Another pitiful showing for ALT 98.7 - a 1.9 share (same as last month). Please pull the plug and flip on Memorial Day, Tim!

Kudos to WRIF. Highest ratings in 36 years! Probably the combo of their 50th anniversary plus former 89X listeners tuning in.

Just imagine how terrible WDZH's ratings would be if either 89X, The River or both were still around!

Alt 106.7 had to contend with both of those Windsor stations, yet Alt 98.7 is barely outperforming what Alt 106.7 did.

This would be so easy to fix as I mentioned in a different thread. Re-launch the station as gold based Modern rock, 1991-2002ish. You would see an instant improvement, drop the alt name for X98.7 or 98.7 The X. For 106.7, they might as well just stick with WLLZ as that seems to be the signals best showing since W4 Country.

It's too bad Cume-less didn't pull the trigger on sports talk when they had both the Lions and MSU in their portfolio. How long will New Country 93.1 be able to labor on with poor ratings and likely low billing numbers? Why not flip 93.1 to a gold-based country station/Nash Icon? A playlist that is 20% new country/new recurrents 2018-2021, 20% 2000-2017, 60% 1985-1999 with a sprinkle of your outlaw and classic country artists.

Great point. but they do a great job of tuning people out by having the blab fest talk, talk, talk

Not to mention being the 258th place in town to hear Billie Eilish and Post Malone.

The VT hosts are awful on 98.7, in any event this station is gone by the end of the year.

WRIF has been kicking ass and taking names. And here's what I don't understand about the whole thing. It seems like any other hot format gets a competitor. You've got 2 (88.7 if you wanna count 3) country stations...and a number of outliers, two full on classic rock, another classic hits...why does new rock get ignored? Wouldn't a company look at those numbers and say 'we gotta get a piece of that'? Is it because the big guys don't have a national active rock format they can roll out? Like I said before, it has been over 20 years since 101 has had any kind of real competition. Yet we're still making a game of "guess what band is coming up next...GNR, AC/DC, Crue, Queen, Def Leppard or AOR era Aerosmith".

WRIF does it well. Maybe all these other owners are chicken shit and would rather chase that easy buck. I know I'd be happy with a Duke FM format around here, too. Nope! Cut those cookies!

For the life of me I dont see the facination of listeners with CSX as they have stayed at or near the top the ratings of subsequent books.

The station imo has mediocre jocks, mediocre imaging and Dahmer. If I never hear 2 tickets to paradise OR walk this way again it'll be too soon.

94.7 is never in my presets..... :barf

I’m surprised stations like WDTK and WCXI don’t get rated. I feel that a lot of the “masses” would like what is talked about on their. One station I like to listen to from time to time is the new BIN 1130. Gives a good prospective and hits on some good stories.

I may or may not have posted this video before, but it is an EXCELLENT interview from Rick Beato, talking to Matt Pinfield and Leslie Fram (who started 99x in Atlanta). A great timeline about how alternative stations started, what they used to be about, and how they became de facto rap/pop stations. If you have any interest, like those of us who grew up on 89x, I highly suggest you watch this.

Pinfield's still alive? I thought that fatbody would have had a heart attack by now.
