Programming announcements at 101 WRIF

Post by MWmetalhead » Sat Mar 27, 2021 12:28 pm

I'm pleased to report 101 WRIF is bringing back not only Motor City Riffs, but also Midnight Metal!

I believe Midnight Metal will air Friday Nights at Midnight.

Motor City Riffs will air Sunday Nights at 9PM (back in the day, start time used to be 10PM).

These are two good shows that should've never been canceled!

Mark Pennington was a mediocre Program Director. Allowed the station's audio quality to deteriorate to shit for nearly two years, loaded most hours with tons of clutter, reduced the DJs to liner readers (in most cases), and he was at the helm when each of the two above mentioned shows were canceled! On top of all that, the Saturday morning blabberfest he co-hosted was awful radio.

For Scott Jameson's next move, I'd like to see him demote Jade to weekends (or remove her from the air altogether) and give middays to the lady I've been hearing on Riff's airwaves on Saturday evenings. She is a substantially more talented broadcaster than the drone voiced Jade!

He also needs to demote Dahmer on WCSX to weekends and give PM drive to Steve Kostan or Uncle Buck! Rehiring Karen Savelly would be fine with me, too!

Solid move. It seems Riff is trying to change up from all the other tracked/national/shuck and jive programming found everywhere else on the dial. The formentioned show changes, plus the foreplay at 4, Live at 5, set them apart from everyone else. Sounds good.

Audacity sucks.

I'm a fan of Peter, but the man is 80 years old. That's going to fly on a rock station anymore.

I had no idea! I thought he was late 60s or around 70.

If Peter Werbe had his way, we all would have been living the Amish lifestyle of the late 19th Century...

We tend to think of people being the way they were and age they were when we first heard of them. Those people with late Sunday night shows circa 1970 are at least 70 now, and if they had experience then, are close to the age MCRF quoted. He had a cousin in Flint who was younger I think. Can't think his first name. Maybe that's who you were thinking of. Oh wait, that Irish guy knows him.

Part of it is the way he speaks to those who are younger than him. It is rare(in my experience) that older men speak to young people with the respect that he does.

Correct. Sonic Rendezvous was still around long after WABX was gone.

The programming changes have been great. It's nice to see so much life and energy being pumped back into this legendary station.

I wish that they would resume streaming RIFF2 online again.

I'm here for a good, hearty debate, to agree and disagree respectfully, and commiserate on the current state of terrestrial radio.

Werbe is intensely skilled. Sadly, his ambition is to be an evangelist for the far-left and not to speak to, and for, communities.
