WDET Broadcasting on 101.7 and 102.1

Post by Steve79 » Mon Jan 11, 2021 5:05 pm

Here in Windsor WDET's audio can be heard broadcasting on side channels 101.7 and 102.1 WITH RDS.
Checked a few radios at home to see if it was the same, which it was.

Anyone else getting the same results?

No, I'm getting Mike FM on 101.7

Pretty strong, too!

same result here - seeing images centered at about 101.67 and 102.12 at about half strength of the actual signal.

At my home in Toledo, 101.9 was picked up on 102.7 as well.

You may want to contact WDET and tell them to have their engineering look into this. Call (313) 577-4146 or use the form below.

Yep, what's going on, are they images, translators, or mixing with another broadcast station or LMR frequency?

I sent feedback and called WDET suggesting that they look into this.

At first I was convinced that you were picking up WMUK 102.1 in Kalamazoo which has a power of 50,000 watts. I did some more checking as I have been picking up an NPR station on 102.1 as well for a few days now. Today I tuned it in my car in the garage which identifies the station you are listening. It was identified as WDET. I then came inside and listened on a CCrane radio which receives stations above average which is why I purchased it. I waited till the top of the hour to hear the local identification which turned out to be WDET.

I am also seeing it in Royal Oak on my Sangean HDR-14 ID'ing with RDS on both of those frequencies.

As noted above I left a message with WDET yesterday and sent an email on 1/13/2021 but they have not replied.

I'm a lying whore. In Genoa Township it was strong on 102.1, even had RDS with it.

Same in Macomb County, both on 101.7 and 102.1.

When did WDET turn off their IBOC?

The WDET transmission on 101.7 is also listenable on 101.6 plus causes interference to the WDTK translator on 101.5. WDTK promotes 101.5 as their main frequency. Someone with the time should let WDTK know about this.

I concur, WDET is tearing up 101.5 pretty bad at my location (Telegraph-Quarton)
