I think WDET is transmitting an analog signal in sidebands intended for HD (hybrid digital) transmission.

I'm about five or six miles to your SE, Colonel, and I'm hearing a pretty clear analog signal from WDET at 101.7 MHz and a not quite as clear (yet still unusually strong) signal at 102.1 MHz. If I were tuned to 101.8 MHz or 102.0 MHz, that wouldn't necessarily be unusual, but it certainly isn't something I should be hearing at 101.7 or 102.1 MHz!

Definitely something going on from a technical standpoint that demands immediate attention from WDET's engineers.

I'm pretty sure 101.5 the River had the same thing happen a few months ago. Transmitting its analog signal on 101.3 and 101.7. It was fixed a few days later. I know bleed-over happens on stations that have bad or no signals, but this with WDET is much different. I hope enough people are complaining.

The issue can be caused by RF feedback, a common problem in tetrode-based tube transmitters that are not properly neutralized.

If they are on an old backup transmitter, these could be the cause.

As of today, Sunday, January 17th I am no longer hearing WDET on 101.7 or 102.1. What about your reception?

Ditto for me. The spillover onto 101.7 & 102.1 is no longer occurring. The audio on 101.9 is noticeably louder than before. During quiet segues, I'm noticing a slight AC hum (it's not loud enough to be bothersome and one has to listen closely to even hear it). Perhaps backup equipment is now being used.
