Music tweak at The Bounce
In response to sagging ratings, the new PD has added noticeably more crossover rhythm hits from the early and mid 90s. I like the change.
Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

And these songs are sped up how much?

So, less classic hip hop?
They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Heard M.C. Hammer this morning, as an example.
Music log:
https://1051thebounce.com/stream/wmgcfm/
Bell Biv Devoe, Tag Team, and Onyx are some of the artists receiving airplay today.
It is by no means a massive change, but maybe 10% to 15% of the slots on the playlists are now devoted to songs or artists from the 1990 to 1995 timeframe the station previously played very little.
I am also noticing less pure hip-hop and more party favorite-type songs in general.

They played Ed Sheeran last night. Had me thinking I landed on 93.9 for a second...how does he fit into this format??
Besides that, this is probably the best the Bounce has sounded in a while.

That's definitely a big difference from 2 years ago. They were mainly playing Aaliyah, DMX, Eminem, and Jay Z.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 9:25 pmHeard M.C. Hammer this morning, as an example.

Maybe they're going to fully switch to a Rhythmic AC or something.thatonedude wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 10:08 pmThey played Ed Sheeran last night. Had me thinking I landed on 93.9 for a second...how does he fit into this format??

Vanilla Ice - played at 7:04p last night.
That is an astute observation, stopnswop. You might be right! They are also playing quite a bit of Justin Timberlake all of a sudden (BARF). About one cut every two to three hours. That is a change I do not particularly like.
The playlist is beginning to look somewhat similar to Star 94 in Atlanta.
The new PD's experience is largely in various forms of Urban radio, but he also had a tour of duty at CHR stalwart KDWB in Minneapolis.
Let's see if the station begins phasing out the term "hip hop" from its branding.

So maybe slightly similar to the old 106.7 the Beat?

Re: Music tweak at The Bounce
Personally, if they tweak it to be a cross between that and their current format, I might listen more...
It’s been almost 10 years and I still miss the Beat...damn.

Re: Music tweak at The Bounce
Trust me when I say this. The new PD is not coming into Detroit making format tweaks or anything else on his own. There are a lot of “opinions” floating around The Bounce. The days of PD’s actually making calls on his/her own are history, especially in the majors. Although the qualifications for the gig may read like a novel, your main experience is that of a babysitter.

Re: Music tweak at The Bounce
I looked through their playlist this morning and I don't see really any big indication of a tweak. All the songs played fit the definition of throwback hip hop / R&B, except for a couple Justin Timberlake songs and Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke.
Are you saying they didn't play late 80s / early 90s tracks before?
