WXYZ morning advertiser - Gun Store

Post by 696lover » Thu Oct 22, 2020 7:18 am

7's morning show has a new advertiser that is going wall to wall, Universal Pawn. It is a gun store in Hazel Park. More ads than the bottom feeder lawyers, a lot more. About as many as the political ads.

And for the story of the lying family of the guy who tried to shoot up the BB game and got shot by a CPL holder, 7 went to the owner of another gun store for analysis.

How much are the gun stores paying for the ad time and news stories? I know when Mike Morse bought the time as 7's legal on air corespondent it was really pricey.

Whatever makes them more money is where they are going to go. It’s a business not a conspiracy.

That is literally not true.

Friend of mine was a lawyer for one of the stations in in the Flint/Saginaw market, about 15 years ago. One of the other stations signed a big ad deal with McDonalds. In addition to the usual stuff, like the anchors having to have McD coffee cups on the desks and McD getting 'interviewed' for puff pieces--

One of the clauses was is if the story was good, like finding a lost puppy or something, and there was a location in the neighborhood, they had to show the location and sign. If anything was bad, a murder or robbery... they could not show the McD or mention the name, even if it happened in the store.

You missed the point entirely. They are going to sell ads to whoever will buy them and keep those advertisers by hook or by crook. Don’t show your business negatively and you’ll give us cold hard cash? Consider it done. It’s a business not a conspiracy.
