Ask Your Neighbor on WNZK

Post by BKRPDM » Fri Aug 07, 2020 11:57 am

Did this 60+ year program die after Bob Allison's passing? Yes, it moved as slow as watching paint dry the last many years, but it still had a lot of heritage. I know that Rob Allessee (Bob's son) tried to keep it going for awhile.

I’m not sure as I haven’t tuned in lately, but here’s their online site:

http://www.askyourneighbor.com

It’s hard to say whether Rob can keep the show going or if he even wants to.

This was his dads baby for years and that’s a hard mantle to keep going although Rob was part of it for many years.

Maybe tune in Monday at 9 to see...?

I actually tried to tune in, numerous mornings with no luck here in Bay City. Just the ethnic music playing. What I liked about the program, is Bob didn't rush you off the air. Time was no obstacle. You could call in to find who had the best cheese cake in Detroit and boy ya got mutiple answers. I loved that.

Will have to see if Rob is on this morning.

I agree.... a good resource that we will not see again with talent like Bob. Rob is good.... and hopefully he’s keeping it going.

As of right now (8/12/20@10:15a) they’re playing an Irish jig (or something) of some sort.

Now you can’t ask your neighbor if he’s dead.

Well we know he is gone, unfortunately.

The radio show will live on even if all that remains are the audio files.

True. Look at Casey and American Top 40, those shows are on the radio on weekends. IHeart has a channel that’s Classic AT40 24/7, So they do live on.

The AYN site is still live so I’m sure the material is still available.

One could call WNZK and ask.
