Nobody can walk away from the NFL no matter how hard we try especially if we have fantasy leagues with friends and coworkers.

As a fan of Chicago teams, it's easy to walk away LOL.
I may have to eat my earlier words with that knowledge in hand.

Speaking as someone who has generally rooted for Detroit's (currently pitiful) teams his whole life, I can certainly relate! :)

Rock 95.5 in Chicago is the worst sounding major market rock station in the history of corporate radio.

I’ve been running a fantasy league for over 10 years. We took a vote yesterday, I was shocked. 8-4 in favor of skipping this season. A couple people didn’t want to play due to a down year with their personal finances due to COVID lockdown. But others genuinely want nothing to do with sports any longer. We’ll see if the sentiment lasts, but it surprised the heck out of me.

Also, with so much work from home, I wonder if there also might be fewer leagues among coworkers.

Wow that's pretty surprising. I'm work from home but all 12 of us from last year are in it again for this year.

"A player, if he chooses, can have the name of a Black person wronged in a confrontation with police emblazoned on the back of his helmet. End zones will have “It Takes All Of Us” on one end line, “End Racism” on the other. Coaches and game officials will be able to wear patches on their cap with the name of a Black victim, or with one of four messages: “It takes all of us,” “Black lives matter,” “End racism,” “Stop hate.” As for the helmets, players can choose either a Black name or one of the four preferred phrases offered: “Stop hate,” “It takes all of us,” “End racism,” “Black lives matter.”

I'm a big baseball fan, so I confess it's hard to ignore the Tigers, especially when they show signs of ending the years of losing. I'm trying to rationalize that everyone is caught up in a big emotional moment and this won't go on forever. In baseball, it will be interesting to see if the protests continue after the fans return, and players are singled out for applause or booing when their names are announced.

Annoying Karens about people Black people dying? You do realize white nationalists like you are the Karens, right?
None of those teams, players, or broadcasters really cared about all the black folks that died in Chicago last week or the week before. It's not about black people dying.
It’s about systemic racism. Correct.
Can you name one change in police procedures that would have changed the Jacob Blake outcome?
Draw your weapons only if you see a weapon first.
Are YOU signing up to be in law enforcement???

I would not take that job if I had to wait until someone had already obtained a lethal weapon before I had even a chance at defending my life. Implement something like that and you will definitely see massive really retirements and folks leaving the profession forever. And I would not blame them. Then we will all be responsible individually for our own protection.
Same formula every time: perp with warrants, high on drugs, resisting arrest, goes for a weapon, ends up dead.

Currently a police officer is 18.5 times more likely to be shot by a black male than a black male is to be shot by a cop. That policy will kick it up to about 30 to 1.

You see, if someone with a gun you cant see runs from you and gets behind cover, like a car or a wall, that individual can open fire without being exposed.

How about this. When a cop says stop, get on the ground and show me your hands, just do it. That would take the deaths WAY down.

Are you certain Nancy didn't think the sign on the door said SALOON instead of Salon?

That makes no sense

https://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press ... ne-of-duty
In 2019 48 officers were killed in the line of duty

https://www.statista.com/statistics/585 ... e-by-race/
In 2019 235 Black people were were killed by police.

According to your figures there should be 4,347 cops shot by black in 2019.

I'm OK with all that EXCEPT the "Black Lives Matter". They are PURELY a political organization.

6 little kids have been killed in Chicago this year. NOTHING from "Black Lives Matter" about doing ANYTHING about that. Their black lives DON'T matter to that organization. They should be sued for FALSE ADVERTISING, as should anybody who displays it.

Whattya gonna do when they start treating everyone like that? Still acceptable behavior by law enforcement?

Care to conflate anything else into this argument?
#BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.
You didn't hear anything about that because it is out of scope. That doesn't mean they don't care about little children, it means they are focused on their mission, quoted above for your convenience.

Hello?? Who are these folks that are killing young black children in their neighborhoods?? Vigilantes or priests?? Even if these kids are killed as bystanders, it's the 'vigilantes' trying to enforce the 'hood' law. What about killing kids doesn't fall under the umbrella of "intervening in violence"?? How do you get "black joy" and "improvements to our lives" if you still allow young kids to be slaughtered in your neighborhoods??

Are the Black Lives Matter folks really saying "not our problem" about those kids or any of the other THOUSANDS of innocent black lives that are snuffed out every year??

Oh, and what about the Black Lives Matter folks who go around chanting about white people needing to "give up their homes" or the BLM folks chanting they are "There To Protect Black Criminals"?? Are those outside their scope or part of their movement??
