I’ve heard him a couple of times. I’ll pass as he’s an ass...

Fenton/Detroit???

Whenever I think of that clown, I think of Hulk Hogan having sex with his ex wife. What a loser he is...

What's more pathetic: harassing an old man who is paying to do a radio show or supporting a grifter like Trump?

With the exception of maybe Charleston, this could be said about the entire affiliate list, including his home station in Tampa.

I share Matt's sentiments.

This is the second POS station in Detroit that carried his show. The first was 94.3 The Bone, which left the air permanently less than two weeks after he was added.

Who was the owner of “The Bone 94.3“ and “The Oasis 104.7”? I know it was in 2011.

Martz Communications- Remember when they offered to buy data plans for everyone who complained about 104.7’s interference with WIOT/Toledo!?! That was perhaps the only memorable thing about their 9-ish month run in Detroit.

Thanks for the info. Martz has a station somewhere in New York State near the Quebec border that is geared to the Canadian audience. The station is Hits 94.7 just curious on how that station is doing.

I think I picked up that station passing through Linden once.

He also owns an Urban Contemporary station on an AM / FM translator combo in Pittsburgh.

Oasis exposed the hypocrisy of greedy landed broadcasters.

For several months, maybe a year, it was there, (uselessly) rebroadcasting WRCJ.

Once they found an FM station willing to rent them an HD subchannel, and used it to feed The Oasis 104.7, all of a sudden, that was being said to "cause interference".

The broadcast moguls don't care about interference, but they have virulent hatred of competition.

Would that have been the owners of Smooth Jazz V98.7 or WIOT 104.7. Also did Sandy Kovac from The Breeze 98.7 have a gig at The Oasis 104.7 at that time (2011).

You don't seem to have a firm grasp of the facts. Let me add some perspective.

When 104.7 was rebroadcasting WRCJ, its antenna nearly the entire time was mounted to a short tower near the Warren/Roseville border along I-696. Broadcast range was very limited. Interference with WIOT in areas where WIOT is reguarly listenable with minimal effort was almost non-existent.

After Martz purchased the license, he moved the broadcast antenna to one of the tall commercial broadcast towers along 8 Mile Rd in Oakland County and more than quadrupled the height of the transmitting antenna. Instead of a tiny station with a 10 mile broadcast radius, the station's broadcast radius - depending on azimuth - increased to 25+ miles. More importantly, the zone where Smooth Jazz 104.7 created destructive interference went deep into Detroit's downriver suburbs, the greater Ann Arbor area, and even into far northern Monroe County. These are areas all within WIOT's legally protected service area. Smooth Jazz 104.7's actual radiation to the south and southwest seemingly exceeded the parameters they submitted to the FCC.

Are there some examples where "broadcast moguls" created interference with FM translators with little regard for existing air space? Certainly. But many of these translators are operated by small fry broadcasters.
