Numerous FM translators are off the air this morning

Post by MWmetalhead » Sun Jul 19, 2020 8:13 am

Apparent tower work or antenna failure?

106.3, 101.5, and 92.7 are all off the air.

94.3 is broadcasting dead air.

I've noticed 106.3's signal has slowly degraded over the past six months. In recent weeks, it no longer reliably locked in on seek mode in my car just eight miles northwest of the tower. At home, the signal has been too weak to receive in stereo.

They should remain off for good.

Is it just me, or do you want every radio station in the world to go away forever?

It’s partially just you. Actually I’m for broadcasting 100 percent, but I’m also against FM translators jamming up the dial, and I am a believer that it’s time to sunset the AM stations. We need to have an extended FM band to move AM stations to FM and also to have Digital FM broadcasting. These things need to be done in order for radio to survive the digital age.

There was a power failure across the street from this tower site in Oak Park from Saturday night until Sunday afternoon. It only effected a few DTE customers, but one of those customers was the tower site.

The three full power TV stations were on generators, but everything else was off the air for several hours until power was restored mid-Sunday.

Frontier Airlines SUCKS! They're a bunch of thieves. Don't fly with them!

Only the ones owned by failing over-leveraged corporations.

I long for the days when the owner, who was also general manager and sales manager, spent six hours debating whether or not to buy a new tube, or a reconditioned one and get new decals for the station van. Business was always bad, but the on air product was local, and good.

WHNE, one of the affected stations at the site, said on their Facebook page that, "The cause of the power outage according to DTE Energy is 'Public interference with DTE's equipment'."
Somebody using transformers for target practice, or an illegal hookup gone wrong?

What about flipping a disconnect?

Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!
