New add at WDIV, it seems

Post by SolarMax » Wed Apr 29, 2020 12:16 pm

From Deadline Detroit:
"TV newsman Grant Hermes' big career jump to WDIV starts with a 1,000-mile drive to Detroit that he and fiance Becca Slaughter never will forget."

Remember when Detroit used to be where people would work years and years to get to? Now they hire kids 5 or 6 years out of school.

When did channel 4 really start going downhill? Was it when Mort hung it up?

That would be when Detroit fell out of the top 10, 20 years ago. The average age of newly hired reporters has been about 29 with about 7 years reporting experience, for quite some time.

Oklahoma City is where Scillian was prior to 4 if I remember right.

Rate: you're right. Grant comes from a different station in that market.
Selz: I won't argue with your first line. However, your final two questions are better directed at the Circle. Scripps hasn't exactly cornered the market on bench strength and the ratings prove it.

On the other hand it might pay off long term... they almost exclusively hire people born in the area and that grew up here...

Yesterday heard "Help Me Hank" doing promotions that he would be taking calls and helping viewers navigate Michigan's unemployment office -- from Facebook Live.

Facebook. WDIV is giving talent time to Facebook.

No, they don't get it.

Wow, quick move to the anchor chair for Grant. I think it's a good choice moving Shawn to Defenders.

Yeah, Channel 4 News is really going downhill, isn't it. Like being #1 in EVERY time slot from 4 until 11:30 in the poll that Rate This posted this past Tuesday. Something's working, don't ya think?

I suppose keeping the same people in front of the camera since cameras had vacuum tubes is working out real well for Fox2.
At the bottom of every time slot from 5 to 11:30 in the same poll I allude to.
