Who is going through the commercial logs at Cumulus

Post by RadioRat » Fri Apr 24, 2020 10:24 am

Listened to 93.1 last night, 6 PM hour. Long commercial breaks with the same Geico or Scott's ad running in the same stop set. Heard a Covid.gov PSA next to a CDC covid PSA. Small things but it makes me think no one is minding the shop at the Fisher Building.

Sounds like remnant ad placement to me. 93.1 was already a weak biller. Ad sales are very tough in this environment. Station now has a 4 and a half hour commercial free block each and every workday (9a to 1:30p).

Satellite feeds have a network "clock", but as ads get pulled they aren't supplying enough fill material. Sloppy.

The audio processing during music - not DJ breaks - has sounded terrible on 93.1 the past few days.

Reminds me of Sirius radio circa 2005.

Sounds like they are feeding music via internet with some local DJ insertion.

That's a great description actually.

Last weekend or the weekend before 107.1 was playing the same things the DJs were saying twice.

They announced the songs twice?

If they do voicetracks on the weekends (they usually don't; 107one seems to try to be live as much as possible), then maybe someone messed up inserting them.
