John Candelaria has stepped down as Operations Manager and Program Director of Beasley Media Classic Hip-Hop “105.1 The Bounce” WMGC, Adult R&B “105.9 Kiss-FM” WDMK Detroit and Gospel “Detroit Praise Network” after two years at the helm.
Candelaria, who also served as Beasley Media’s Urban format captain, came to Detroit in 2018 to program WMGC and added the other two stations upon Beasley’s acquisition of them from Radio One last summer. Prior to coming to Detroit, Candelaria spent six years as OM/PD for Las Vegas market Rhythmic AC “Old School 105.7” KOAS Dolan Springs AZ and Hot AC “Star 107.9” KVGS Meadview AZ as well as morning host at KOAS. From 2002-2011 he served as OM/PD for Radio One’s stations in Dallas, which included two years where he also oversaw Hip Hop “Hot 102.7” WHTD Detroit. Candelaria has also programmed KPRR El Paso and served as Regional Program Director for Clear Channel in multiple West Texas markets.
In a Facebook comment, Candelaria stated that he’s leaving to take care of his sick brother.
