2/11 Is WXYZ off the air for the repack?

Is it just me or is channel 7 WXYZ current off the air? I've tried multiple rescans and have gotten nothing. Is this possibly due to the repack?

I had issues with them yesterday afternoon in Commerce. They were back when I rescanned yesterday evening. Don’t know what the issue is

Some kinda change with FCC, they mentioned it over the weekend

Lots of tower crews working around here as the March 13 cutover date approaches for many stations (that "kinda change thing with the FCC" that's been going on). Old antennas being removed or decommissioned, new ones going up, new transmission lines, etc. Any time while workers on a tower will be near an active antenna, shutdowns or power reductions are done for safety.

They had a scroll yesterday (or maybe the day before) saying they were moving to a temporary antenna or transmitter to prepare for the repack, so your reception might be affected. I have sporadic periods where I can't get it but it comes in good other times.

Ch 7 changed the transmitter on top of the tower on 10 mile in Southfield using a large industrial helicopter Monday. Some tweaks were still going on today.

Just to nit-pick , they changed out the antenna. The transmitter is in a building on the ground.
There will be helo lifts soon at the 8 Mile tower for WTVS (WWJ-TV's antenna went up a few weeks ago), and for WPXD on the WKBD tower site. They're cool to watch. Don't know what WDIV's schedule is.

Others go on March 13, or sooner. So OTA viewers will have to rescan after each station changes over. Hopefully the cable operators will be on top of this for their subscribers, who do, after all, pay a ridiculous add-on "Broadcast TV access" fee.

The big cable operator in the area has direct fiber feeds to all the major stations, so those won't be impacted. They can stay on the "air" even if they took their tower down for weeks. There is a backup feed using over-the-air but it's not used unless there is an issue on the fiber.

As an additional tidbit of info... this is also used (or was) to provide something we called "split signal", whereas the commercial inserts for over-the-air broadcast were different from those going over the fiber link. This would result in non-cable customers seeing different versions of commercials that were intended for non-cable customers and cable customers seeing a version suited for current customers. This was mostly for "new customer" offers vs "upsell" or "retention" ads.

Being on adjacent channels, couldn't WWJ-TV and WTVS duplex 21 and 22 through the same antenna?

It appears that today (Sunday-Feb. 16, 2020 at 6PM and probably earlier as well they are off (OTA) again. They're probably using the break in the weather to their advantage.

I left my flat screen on in case it came back and sure enough at about 6:18 PM Action News came on.
