From the novel The Accidental Tourist, by Anne Tyler:
"And she talked so much—almost ceaselessly; while Macon was the kind of man to whom silence was better than music. ("Listen! They're playing my song," he used to say when Sarah switched the radio off.)"
Lately, every time I'm tempted to turn on Detroit radio, I think of this quotation.

One of the Music Choice channels on cable works for me in that situation.

This time of year they always do a Christmas in July playlist for a few days, with all kinds of strange trivia. I'll have to tune in.moldyoldie wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 2:18 pmOne of the Music Choice channels on cable works for me in that situation.

Re: The Sounds of Silence
Yes, 441. They've got it going now. Apparently, the "official" Christmas in July holiday is July 25, so it looks like this will last for at least two more weeks.
The Did You Know segments always have a nice tongue-in-cheek tone:
Why have a snowball fight when you can have a water balloon fight? And that's why we have Christmas in July.
Spread the Christmas cheer by singing Christmas carols in your neighborhood. But don't expect your neighbors to be too happy.
