Scripps is in trouble yet again for workplace harassment!

Scripps sounds like an absolutely vile company to work for...

I worked at WXYZ-TV for 36 years. We were owned by ABC until the early 1980's then we were owned by Scripps and we never experienced anything like what is described in the write-up.

Scripps may have been (and probably was) an outstanding company for many years!

However, the Malcom Maddox scandal and now the the WTMJ scandal certainly paint an ugly picture of the current state of affairs.

You had a 2019 prediction that the Tara Edwards case would be settled out of court, but it is still dragging on with no end in sight. Zero entries on the docket since July and no new trial date set yet. The original trial date would have been only a month away.

(Good thing Dugan got DBR'd or he would probably complain again that "most people really don't care about the Tara Edwards case...") :lol

There is a LOT of document discovery going on, and it also appears a boatload of depositions have taken place:

Looks like the case isn't going away anytime soon.

You wouldn't say that if the complaint was from a "Christian". Fuck off.

Actually I would. Don't like your employer, then leave. Besides, WI is right-to-work-state. The case flimsy on the major points:

"In addition to twice finding a cross on his desk, the weatherman once found a Jewish head-covering known as a yarmulke on his desk"
This has limited merit, and fails do to speculation of who put it there, and the intent of the placement. Twice is not pattern. Unless.the boss gave it to you and told you to wear it this fails.

"It was a constant struggle for Steele and other Jewish employees to take time off for Jewish holidays."
It's a broadcast station - you work a lot of holidays, comes with the turf. Besides, Jewish holiday's often are closely align with Christian ones. Passover is at same time as Easter, Hanukkah is same time as Christmas. This probably was a struggle, but doesn't mean it was unfair. Salaried/Media employees have to get job done. It's not like building widgets, which can be done in advance.

"Once after asking for time off for the holidays, he was removed from a "prominent position with demonstrated rating success to a lesser role." At the time Steele said he was told "we need to appeal to more than just a few people," a comment that Steele took as a "reference to his Jewish identity."
This is the most serious charge but this happens all the time in media. They do need mass appeal so he has nothing on that statement. They can blame it on a bad Nielsen in one time period or even one demo, consultants, perceptual studies, etc which has nothing to do with discrimination. Lots of loopholes here.

"A manager once circulated a memo about the importance of "CHRISTIAN holy week" but there was never a similar memo about any other religion."
This appears to fail because it requires speculation of intent of the memo. Importance of covering it on the station is completely legit. There is no requirement to give equal air-time to all religions of staff members.

PS When you had employment issues I truly felt sympathy for you, but neither of us have dog in this fight so not sure why acting the way you are here.

PPS You support a zero-tolerance policy for younger persons (possibly ignorant or under peer pressure) being fired for raising their right hand without due process, Here you lose it over one person that was might have lost some vacation time or had their shift changed and was eventually fired with cause, and is having due process. IMHO that's inconsistent,

What does Right-To-Work have to do with this?!? I've been seeing way too many conservatives misinterpret law to the point where they're conflating and confusing Right-To-Work with At-Will and vice versa, and using that conflation as an excuse to pretend that the NLRB and the EEOC have no stroke or power (hint: they still do!) or acting like long standing laws such as the Whistleblower's Act of 1980 were magically repealed somehow (hint: it wasn't ... unless your last name is Kariakou, Binney, Edmonds, Assange, or Snowden where "rule of law" takes a backseat to "rule of the mood swing") ... :\

But as both religions use different calendars, it's not always the case every year. Hanukkah is usually in December, but more often than not it's on a week different from Christmas. Last year, Hanukkah was from 12/22 to 12/30; this year, 12/10 to 12/18; next year, 11/28 to 12/6. Passover; however, is usually aligned with Easter, as it has been in recent years.

If you're low man on the seniority pole, you work the holiday. No matter what you're religion is.

When I had little seniority where I worked, I guarantee you the boss would of laughed until he peed his pants if I said:
"I'm a Christian, I want every Sunday, Good Friday and Christmas off". Yeah, right.
