It was important to know that Jake Wood told Ron that Willie Horton said to say hello to him.

Ron must think we're on the edge of our seats anticipating the updated baseball scores.

Whatever the issue, Ron is always going to take the anti-player stance.

The oh so uninformed Ron had no idea about Kumar Rocker's signing status. And trying to make it a Covid issue! As I understand it, the Mets will get a compensation pick next year. It'd be the 11th overall, as Rocker was the 10th pick this year.

Chuck, as to your question about whether Rocker can now be signed as a free agent, here's The Athletic's analysis:

"What’s next?
Rosenthal: The Mets will receive the No. 11 pick in next year’s draft as compensation for failing to sign Rocker, but the player whom they select then might not be as talented. Some draft evaluators viewed Rocker as a potential top-five choice and considered it a coup for the Mets when he was still available at No. 10.

Rocker, according to Boras, requires no medical attention and will continue preparing for his professional career. He is not expected to return to Vanderbilt and might end up pitching in an independent baseball league. As MLB Network’s Jon Heyman noted on Twitter, another Boras client, Luke Hochevar, took a similar course when he did not sign with the Dodgers as the No. 40 overall pick in the 2005 draft. Hochevar went to the Royals with the No. 1 pick the following year. The difference is Hochevar had no reported medical concerns; he simply was not satisfied with the Dodgers’ offer.

What happens to Rocker?
Keith Law, senior baseball writer: He goes back into the draft next year with a medical question hanging over his head. Other teams may know what the Mets saw in his medicals that we don’t know, but either way, he’ll face greater scrutiny during the fall and spring when he pitches, and interested teams will likely ask him for more documentation.

Because he declined to submit an MRI to MLB prior to the draft, he has no recourse beyond going back to school or going to an independent league. Or possibly Japan, as Carter Stewart did."

Larry Brown is not 85, Ron. He's 80, turning 81 in September.

By definition, how can the 1-1 pick in any draft be a "steal"?!
