It gives me some comfort thinking that the ghosts of Ron Cameron & Al Capone will be rubbing shoulders for eternity, or for at least as long as the Fenton Hotel remains standing.

I heard of Ron's passing during the second intermission of the Red Wings game, Ken Kal and Paul Woods had a few nice things to say about him and then afterwards when Caputo came back on the air a coller phoned in and asked Pat if he had met him and Pat said yes, but didn't add anyting further .What's that old saying... " if you got nothing nice to say say nothing at all" Btw, I recorded his last show on my iphone, and his last show at WDTK. I don't know how to get them off my phone to share them though...

A story I've told before about one of my favorite memories ... from 2014 (so the statute of limitations has long run). Ron had a show on WCAR with but one phone line. But the station did have call waiting. Per usual, there were few callers. To have some (extremely juvenile) fun, whenever there was a call, I would call in. Resulting in a beep on air. Then I'd immediately hang up. Rinse & repeat. A constantly frustrated Ron would have trouble hearing the caller over the incessant beeps. Then long passages with no callers. Then I would start up again when there was another caller. Ron, of course, blamed the Mickey Mouse station, never seeming to realize it was the handiwork of one of his "fans."

Mea maxima culpa.

Will Alex & Luke come out of hibernation to reflect here on Ron's passing? It would be nice if they - & Matt, too, could participate in next week's sendoff.

Now that Ron, a competitor who could not be mentioned (!!!), is gone, will the Drew & Mike podcast - which has talked about their Buzzboard-related thread - finally acknowledge the phenomenon of the Ron Cameron thread? Along with acknowledging Ron's passing?

It would be nice if the insurance company callers could somehow be represented in next week's show.

I'm told that the representatives of the Catholic League are in the process of ordering patches featuring the initials "RC" to be worn on the sleeve of all team jerseys in honor of Ron.

Time for my story. In a previous version of my life, I worked in the press box at Comerica Park on an occasional basis. And this was when Ron still had a press pass. Mr. Cameron was eating his uncomped meal when Josh Lewin, formerly of FS Detroit and at this point with Mets, happened to walk by. Ron got up, and attached himself to Mr. Lewin like a six year old telling any adult about dinosaurs. If there was a window in the lunch room Mr. Lewin would have jumped out of it. Hilarious and tragic at the same time.

With the passing of Ron the longest running thread on the buzzboard will soon (sadly) be coming to an end.I believe after the tribute show it would only be fitting if Bobbert and Momo have the last two posts. The thread should then be locked.
