Huh? Not sure where the scout story was going
There was no point to the story other than offering Ron an opportunity to talk about how admired he is.

The Bryce Harper press conference story. Again.

Thank you. Outside of the technical errors behind the scenes coming onto the air (as usual) I thought it was solid. The one thing I'll say is that I had no intention to give him an avenue to bring up the Harper press conference again. Really wanted to expand on Ben Simmons.

Starting at 2:10, what I’m imagining would go down if Ron, admired in all corners throughout his estimable life, encountered any number of us here IRL:

I wonder if RC talked to Mike Lucci yesterday?

Lucci's name was very much top of mind because he came up in the Chuck Hughes 50th anniversary coverage - the articles may've relied on stock interviews with him - along with the photo of him among the pallbearers.

Ron may not have spoken to Lucci at the very end of his life, but there has to be some connection. Maybe Ron, the "Stud," worked out with him at Vic Tanny, or there was an exotic vacation somewhere together.

Kind of looking forward to the Kevin Allan interview, I remember when he was a regular on the old DFN days as the wings insider. Though I am sure with Ron’s “go to questions” a good interview will be squandered

Kevin Allen at least won't have to compete against Ron's play-by-play of the World Series game (assuming, as promised, he's on during the 2nd hour). But he'll have to deal with the usual adventures in Ron's narcissism as Ron gears so much of the hour to himself & all of his "good friends." I see that Allen also thinks Gordie is the GOAT so we can't pit the two against each other on that, though we know now that the homer in Ron takes precedence over his loyalty when he was silent when Jimmy D said that Bobby Orr was the GOAT. Dan needs to email Allen something to the effect that 'Jimmy D thinks Orr's the GOAT, I assume Ron agrees since he didn't disagree, what say you?'

With all this Caputo talk, what happened to Ron's edict about not talking about other radio stations?

Gary Danielson's a Cameron fan?!?

That's funny. I did run into him in public in the late 1980s or early 1990s at the long gone Ram's Horn at Plymouth and Telegraph (where he was probably getting a free meal). It was me and a friend and we made some small talk with him. It was right after Bob Page got fired from a job in New York and Ron immediately went into his rant about the ruthlessness of the TV and radio business.

Just caught up with the last two hours of Sunday's show on the podcast. I got a good belly laugh at Ron's story about seeing Rip Hamilton kissing a woman in the stands at a basketball game, and Ron seriously considering going over to Hamilton and telling him he was missing the game.

That was a story he used to repeat with great frequency once upon a time. And as one of Rip's coaches for three seasons here was Flip Saunders, this reminds me that Ron once said he never met Saunders. As I believe Ron was in town for the Saunders' era (from '05-'08), I still can't wrap my head around how someone with a Pistons media pass could never have met the team's head coach for three seasons.

That old Danielson clip just confirms that Ron never forgets any received praise (or slight). He tells the story of Mickey Lolich being a listener, too. That these references may be more than 40 years old is of no relevance to him in his storytelling.
