Possible FM Pirate in Windsor?

Post by RingtailedFox » Wed Sep 25, 2019 7:16 pm

I was sitting in a parking lot near Howard Avenue and Tecumseh Road when i was flipping through the FM dial... my truck's radio stopped on seek at 87.9 and was playing contemporary christian music (some pop, some rock, even some christian R&B). Does anyone else have any more information on this one?

Are you sure this wasn't just a part 15 transmitter you were just passing by?

I tuned in for a good 20 minutes... it's possible it's a Part-15/ICES-003 transmitter... there was no static at all... I even checked if it was a harmonic from CJAH-FM 90.5, which broadcast less than half a mile from atop an apartment building... but the songs were different...

Ohhh right I forgot this was Canada for a second so it wouldn't be a part 15 transmitter.

This station has been on the air for years... I'm talking well over 10 years. originally on 87.9 and then moved to 107.9 until W300DI signed on and they moved back to 87.9. They are never consistent with operational hours, and sometimes its off the air for days.
I get them in west Windsor and loose them just after Walker road (Via EC ROW . The strongest signal is near Dominion, and West Grand. (near TD Canada Trust Bank)

I never bothered posting anything about it because it does't bother me any.

I was just in Windsor yesterday, from the tunnel to the 401. Had I known I would have tried to tune it in.

So in Canada, can you run your own "LPFM" on your own, or what?

I don't think so, but I'm not sure. I've often fantasized about having my own little station lol.

I think you can... our equivalent of Part 15 is RSS-210 ( https://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.n ... 01320.html ), not ICES-003 as I thought it was called...
