Under the Bridge this morning.
That song belongs on WOMC and The Breeze, ffs.
SOFT ROCK does NOT belong on CSX.
Same with the Orleans song. That's the softest rock can get next to Bread, lol.
In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they started playing Bread or Andrew Gold
🙄

They should be playing Scar Tissue or Californication.
Those 2 would fit in perfectly.

I just tuned in and they are playing "Tiny Dancer"....ummm
Is this usual?

They should be playing stuff like "All The Girls Love Alice" and "Saturday's all right for fighting"
But I'm gonna assume they already do, because it's Elton.

I'm gonna repost my question on the last page, does anyone play "Can't Get Enough" by Bad Company?
I miss that song.

Elton John doesn't get the plays he used to.

Everytime I turn them on, theyre playing Frees "All Right Now". One of the few holdovers from their early-90s heyday and its one of the most boring choices possible. I guess that song tests well...
Early 90s?
I'm pretty sure the song came out in 71.
And it is the definition of classic rock.
Sorry. I meant that its one of the few songs still played often that was part of the 1990s programming I consider to be the stations heyday...when it really was classic rock. Of all the songs they played in the 90s, the only ones they kept are the ones I never liked.

They've played it forever.

Nor should he. Not a rock artist.

I heard that Bad Company song recently. Maybe WIOT or WXKR?

They were pretty selective about what songs of his they played. “Madman Across The Water”, his eeriest and spookiest song, was one. I always liked it. “Levon”, which may be a bit soft, but still a great song. A lot of “ Yellow Brick Road” stuff, “Benny and the jets”, “All the young girls love Alice”, “Saturday nights all right for fighting”-all among his hardest songs. Not the softer stuff or any later stuff.

...is playing "1979" by Smashing Pumpkins. What in the hell???
Classic overreaction/panic move to a new competitor. Will only going to drive the core (P1s) to tune around to see what else is on the dial.

I remember when 106.7 flipped from The Beat to The D, we responded, but not by adding anything. We briefly cut back on the McCartney, Billy Joel, Elton John, etc. This is the first time I've really seen a response like this. The hardline was always "tighten it up! More Eagles! More Seger! More Beatles!".

I feel like there's an odd mix going on, too. From stuff like Heart's version of "Alone" and Starship's "We Built This City" and Huey Lewis and stuff like that to Chili Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins? Something ain't stirring the Kool-Aid...

To me it seems like they are all mashing together. 94.7 is now playing newer stuff, 101.1 is playing more older stuff and 106.7 is trying to be everything but mostly playing older stuff everyone has heard countless times. Its a mess right now.

I’m quite surprised that two of the highest rated stations, ‘CSX and WOMC, have tweaked so much in response to WLLZ.

Benny and the Jets is considered harder? That not a rock song either.

How long has WCSX been playing Collective Soul, Candlebox, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers? They played all three of those artists today. Are they trying to tweak their imaging towards more of what WLLZ is playing? If so, is that a big mistake on their part?

I think CSX and Riff have been very complacent with no real competition for so long. And now that they see listeners are speaking out that theyre tired of the status quo of rehashed hits ad nauseum theyre shitting the bed especially with a 2nd book with a 3.8.

The new Wheelz has definitely hit a nerve.

I agree with the overreaction comment.

106.7's numbers are respectable but nowhere near those of WRIF or WCSX in A25 to 54 for the total week.

106.7 won't climb much further unless they do something impactful in morning drive.
