Is it me or is Detroit Radio just boring as hell, When I left Detroit in ‘84, Radio in Detroit was Rock’n I mean we had some great stations in ‘84, We had WLTI Lite FM 93.1 , WMJC Magic 95 (94.7), WCZY 95.5, WHYT Power 96, WLLZ 98.7, New Music WABX 99.5, WLBS 102.7, Timeless 105.1 WQRS, WJZZ Jazz 106, W4 Country 106.7 and WGPR 107.5.
Today, I tune in and it just seems like the life of Detroit Radio (or just Radio itself) Has been sucked right out, There’s nothing to really enjoy on radio anymore, And Satellite is getting the same way, So to me Satellite is not the answer, Between my Wife and Myself we’re listening to Oldies 580, Newsradio 950 or a talk show on AM or a bunch of CD’s in the car and at home it’s Albums on the turntable or CD’s or we stream. Are there a lot of you out there that feel the same way.
How long were WMJC, WABX, and WLBS on the air? I remember 99.5 being WDTX or WDFX, both album rock and top 40 around the late-80s. 102.7 was KISS FM, with Paul Christie and Damone. I thought 93.9 was like KISS (WKSG) with a deeper playlist. What format was 94.7 prior to WCSX?

Couldn’t tell you as to what was going on after August of ‘84, 94.7 At that time was WMJC Magic 95 an A/C format.

Like most things, boring is subjective. What makes radio exciting to you?
This Breeze dreck you all think is the greatest bores me to death, and I honestly forget they exist most days.
I will say Detroit is one of the better markets IMHO. New York, LA and Chicago, with the exception of a station or 2, are brutal.
