Re: WKBD 50
No problems in Wyandotte.
My furthest DTV tropo: KDKA Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 202 miles for three days in January 2017 and a night in September 2017 with only an Antennas Direct C2V!
Current setup: Antennas Direct C2Max (2018-present)

Re: WKBD 50
There are workers on their tower, so there will be periodic power reductions or cutoffs over the next few days.
Re: WKBD 50
50’s signal always sucked in Shelby Township I Hope that when the repack happens they will be better I only watch .2 and sometimes.3 forget the CW teen network.Maybe they will add .4 for Decades and that’s why they are doing the work.

Adding a subchannel shouldn't require any tower work. The still transmit only one signal, only it is divided into several video and audio streams sent out in sequence. When you watch 50.4, your receiver picks out only the bytes that carry the .4 channel picture and sound, and displays them.

Re: WKBD 50
Just checked WKBD. It seems they've been off at least 12 hours.
Others reported a brief outage over the weekend.
One thing I did not know was that WDWO was on that candleabra. I still thought they were at the Capitol Rd site (near 103.5's TL)
I wonder what they're working on. No Detroit market station is repacking until Phase 3, with most repacking on Phase 8.

Re: WKBD 50
Both WDWO and WPXD (ion channel 31) use the WKBD site.
WDEO has a construction permit to put an FM Translator antenna on the tower structure. I doubt, though, that a low power FM antenna install less than two-thirds of the way up the structure would cause a need for WKBD to power down for multiple days.

Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

Nearly 24 hours of being off the air, they finally made an announcement on their webpage and facebook. But no ETA on when they will be back on the air.

Re: WKBD 50
I was told by WKBD that they are installing a new antenna and that they would be off the air periodically for the next 2 weeks.
Re: WKBD 50
Back up now, guess they are prepping for the Repack in April

Re: WKBD 50
My guess is that they will be broadcasting in the evenings when viewership is higher and noone will want to work 1000' in the air in the cold and dark.
Sad thing is, the interruption is not necessary. They also own WWJ-TV 62(44).
They could have used WWJ-TV to transmit a temporary subchannel on physical 44.5, which would broadcast WKBD with PSIP as channel 50.1 (a lot of people are unaware that one transmitter can have more than one .1 channel. In fact, the spectrum auction depends on it. Many stations sold their RF bandwidth in the auction, but will be operating with a shared channel as a guest, complete with their original channel mumber and must-carry/retransmission consent privileges).
