Yeah, even though I wasn’t fully engaged, that sounds right to me. I remember that Earl Lloyd was mentioned in the story, so he must have been the player they were talking about.sparty89 wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 12:52 pmAccording to Ron's story, the exchange was:Momo wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 10:13 amNot sure, but instead of the player being "good," the repeated lines may have been about how "fast" he was.Momo wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 10:02 pmI was half-listening. It was some story that involved Earl Lloyd. With one person saying something about someone (Lloyd?) being a good player for an “N” word, with a Black person (Lloyd?) in the story agreeing that the athlete was a good player for an “N” word. As noted, Ron took great relish in telling this story.
Racist fan: "Can that n_ play?"
Player's mother, who happened to be sitting right behind the racist fan: "That N_ can play."

Re: Ron Cameron
A bit interesting that they are aware of it, being a brokered radio show on a Sunday, impressed.Dan in Northville wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 12:42 pmBased on this response that I received from my email to Salem complaining about Ron's insensitive language, it looks like it may be trouble for Ron.............
"We're way ahead of you, but very grateful that you took the time to alert us"
Re: Ron Cameron
The fact it was a direct quote might save Ron. Still, he should have just said N word, or something similar so we got the point without actually saying it.
I think it all depends on the terms of Ron's contract what happens. The station could put a disclaimer to the effect of "Salem Media is not responsible for the content of this program", which is generally used before a brokered show airs.
Maybe Cowboy sent an email, that's how they were aware of it.
Keep an eye on WDTK's schedule page.

With Ron’s penchant for telling recycled stories ad nauseam, it’s telling that, on some level at least, he knew better than to tell this “new,” unfiltered, story.

Buzz Board,
Hope everyone is doing well! Ron is no longer associated with DTK. Unfortunately he’s had way too many opportunities to try and get it together and obviously yesterdays show was the last straw. I’m sorry for anyone who heard it and was taken back. Not sure where Ron goes from here but it won’t be with us. Again, H*** apologies to everyone. I know he was a part of everyone’s weekend even if it wasn’t always good radio he never failed to entertain.

Thanks for the update, Luke.

Well, my weekend afternoons are open to enjoy the great outdoors this spring & summer.
Re: Ron Cameron
I sense the hidden hand of Ron Colangelo behind this decision.
Re: Ron Cameron
Last Monday it was Don & Tucker. Today, it’s Ron. No one, no matter how big, is safe in this “rotten” business.

Re: Ron Cameron
Luke, appreciate you letting us know. It looks like Ron will have time to read the pages of the buzzboard and perhaps it will generate some ideas as he has no excuses now, for his much anticipated biography with Ted Kulfan. Hoping we can have it under our Christmas Trees this year. The upcoming weekends will be much different, I might just have to play "We are the Champions" on my weekends in memory of the show. Maybe you guys can fill in the gap in his timeslot? Best wishes.Warriorstrong13 wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 1:25 pmBuzz Board,

This board and conversing with you all on “The Ron Cameron show” has been part of my routine since 2020, what’s next?
It has been great posting with all of you, I guess we wait and see
