At times Ron came across (in the 1992 words of the Detroit Free Press' Steve Crowe) as a "self-promoting name dropper." The claim that the president of ABC called Mr. Cameron the "top sports host in America" begs for corroboration, as Ron also mentioned a Detroit Free Press article being published as a result of said laudation. For personal reasons, of course, Ron has hated the Lions as long as I've been a listener. I remember one mediocre, but not disastrous, season when, without fail, he predicted a Lions loss each game. Always prefaced with an oh-so heartfelt hope that he would be wrong.
