Martin, the Radio Expert

(Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer)

Martin, the radio expert,
Had a lot of broadcast skills,
And if you ever hired him,
He would help you pay the bills.

All of the Detroit stations,
Clamored for his production,
And the one place he worked most,
Had the letters P-O-N.

Then one sunny day in May,*
Cameron came to say,
"Martin, with all that you know,
Help me run my sports talk show."

Then they were re-united,
Martin making posts on X,
(Formerly known as Twitter),
Telling us what happens next.

*May 2023, after Ron Cameron's awkward departure from WDTK.
Bobbert, Stopette & Geritol, Ron's Christmas spectacular sponsors, have no choice but to find a place for your newly-interpreted holiday standards.
Thanks for the suggestion. I also hope that the background music is provided by the Longines Symphonette orchestra, famous for its "Living Sound".

After a long sleepless night and much soul searching I have decided NOT to take my posting talents to the RIP Ron Cameron thread.I have chosen loyalty over generational wealth.Kidcat will remain on the Ron Cameron Thread team.
Good for you. I took a week off from the Buzzboard to avoid participating in that thread and feeding the ego of the pest who started it.
You're pathetic.
Come on, Matt, you can do better than that. You really need to let go of your obsession with this thread. You leave us alone and we'll leave you alone.
Bobbert .I completely disagree with you.First of all, no he can't do any better.Secondly who cares if he posts here or not.He is irrelevant.Keep the parody songs coming. They are great.

When Diana Ross's star eclipsed Mary Wilson & Florence Ballard, The Supremes became known as Diana Ross and The Supremes. When her stardom only continued to grow, Miss Ross went solo. It's been apparent for some time that - at least unofficially - The Buzzboard has become Ron Cameron and The Buzzboard. :razz But it may be time now for the Ron Cameron thread to go solo. :lol

But fear not, Matt (or "Mary Wilson"), there is still the promise of great things ahead for the Ron Cameron-less Buzzboard.

I am getting the impression it's Fridays only, meaning no Christmas Eve spectacular.

That would be a bummer, I also wonder if due to his recent procedures if his movement is limited, obtaining ads the way he does could be an issue?

I trust Ron’s glorified phone screener has some help for the expected flood of calls awaiting Ron’s triumphal return. Mr. Positive & Kurt, of course, but the Warren Boyz, too. Our own Frank & Rob. The always-agreeable Drew. Keith & his single-minded agenda. Harry from Sterling Heights, Ron’s last caller pre-surgery. Bert/Burt, perhaps. And there’s the bike-riding Matt from Walled Lake, who had been MIA for some time before Ron’s hiatus.

It will also be interesting to see how Ron's comeback compares to other famous comebacks:
  • Gloria Swanson as Norma Desmond in the 1950 movie Sunset Boulevard
  • The election of one of Ron's idols—Richard Nixon—as U.S. President in November 1968 after failed candidacies in 1960 and 1962
  • A few weeks later, Elvis Presley's famous comeback TV special in December 1968
  • The "Ol Blue Eyes is Back" comeback by Frank Sinatra in 1973

WPON make sure the phones are in good shape, with the comeback and this being the Christmas extravaganza show, lines will be full!

Heard Mr. Positive this morning give tribute to Ken Calvert on WCSX.

Was he a good man in Ron's eyes?

I'm betting the man with the record longest running radio talk show in the galaxy never met him. Even though Calvert was the longtime voice of the Pistons.

Could go this way or……..Calvert seeing Ron at a game, and the usual

“Ron is that you? what are you doing here”

Have to lean with the Elvis comeback special!

Even at this early hour, I can feel the excitement building for the return of SportsTalk to the airwaves…

Yeah, the hamster wheel will be booming out the five watt matchstick signal out for a couple of square blocks. Ratings should be through the roof today. All of the media outlets are probably setting up outside Broadcast Shack for the big show. This may top Caesar’s triumphant return to Rome. Has John Williams prepared a new fanfare for this monumental event?
