Not fun in Livingston county at the moment. By noon, the dirt piles were ice already. Called it a day at 1.

That said, it started "plinking" down in South Lyon by 10:30am.

That's my driveway in Brighton. That's all ice.

Looks just like that at my house. Getting a much needed lull right now. The surface of my patio must be 33 or 34 degrees, because the white coating of crap on the patio was mushy, not icy.

There seemed to be little rhyme or reason geographically speaking as to which areas last hour were reporting snow vs. sleet vs. freezing rain. Monroe was reporting light snow while Flint was reporting light freezing rain.

Barely any new snow in TC, we were supposed to get hit at 1p. The forecast suggests things slow down here by 11a tomorrow.

The sleet shifted to light freezing rain and drizzle here a couple hours ago. I'm starting to see liquid rain drops turn to ice on my window screens, the white mush in driveway is now turning clear and freezing, and mini icicles are hanging from the bottom of my outdoor power and cable lines.

31 degree air temp here.

67 seconds after they call to inform us they're closing schools again...the power goes out.

We have maybe 3 or 4 inches of thin snow as of 1am.

The NWS did a crappy job of adding Lenawee, Wayne and Monroe counties to the ice storm warning in timely fashion. The dumbasses waited until 6pm last night to upgrade those areas. It should've happened by late morning.

The HRRR models at TWC and at WXYZ did a very good job with regard to placement of the heaviest ice accumulations.

Bad ice accretion here. Two inch icicles hanging from all power and cable lines. All visible tree branches are ensheathed in ice. The temp dipping to 27 here overnight made things quite bad.

I have a skinny pine tree precariously close to my main power line that is tipping a bit.

Southcentral MI really got hit good from the icing, especially based from the "power outage" perspective. I thought the maps were predicting it to be a bit farther north than this. BTW, I hate the new DTE outage map which only shows numbers until you zoom in really close to an individual outage.

You're right, km1125. The most damage was about 25 miles farther south than forecast by most on Tuesday. That's a very narrow margin for error obviously for a system like this.

Some models yesterday morning or even Tuesday daytime were picking up on the southward shift.

Forecasting was quite good with this system overall, especially with medium range model runs. I thought the NWS could've done a better job fine tuning the ice storm warning yesterday morning. Not just the DTX office but also the Northern Indiana office. I think border counties were caught off guard.

My favorite is seeing the street directly behind me with power and ours is out.

DTE is full of shit:
https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/ ... 935433007/

Metro Detroit's northern suburbs had a massive ice storm on or near March 31 in either 2003 or 2004. That one produced widespread 0.50 to 1.25 inch totals. Pontiac and Rochester Hills got hit extremely hard by that one.

DTE is using the "worst storm in 50 years" excuse to justify their pathetic restoration times.

Consumers, who has widespread outages in its SE service area, has said nearly everyone should be restored by late Saturday.
