And they stated that the NYC version of Alt has been threatened with a format change for the last six months. Given that information, I’d be willing to bet Alt 92.3 flips before July 4th. I can’t imagine Alt 98.7 lasting much longer than that.

I might become a buyer of Audacy stock if they fire Mike Kaplan.

Dude! I swung by while D&CtF were in their 15 minute 6:00am break. They were on this morning. Couldn't tell you what they were talking about though. Wasn't a fan. Are they fired from Audacy or just from Detroit?

I'll take the under on that. I give them until Memorial Day weekend. No later than Labor Day. It just isn't happening here.Chrocket87 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 5:37 pmAnd they stated that the NYC version of Alt has been threatened with a format change for the last six months. Perhaps someone here could chime in if they know:
When was the last time an alternative/modern rock format was a ratings winner in the Detroit area? I mean, top 10/top 5? Demo winner? Certainly hasn't been in the last 10-15 years.

To answer Mega - they were fired from the company outright.
Their show is kaput, unless Audacy elects to air "best of" (try not to throw up in your mouth after reading that).

in 2011-2012, 89X had a few top 10 books 6+ and were regularly in the #2-5 range in 18-49 (behind only WRIF). Of course, Dave and Chuck were the biggest reason behind this. WRIF pretty much killed 89X when they nabbed the morning show at the height of their popularity.Mega Hertz wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 7:19 pmWhen was the last time an alternative/modern rock format was a ratings winner in the Detroit area? A best-of? That should be good for 5 or 6 minutes.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 7:23 pmTo answer Mega - they were fired from the company outright.

Yes. And we saw what happened when D&C left 89x in late 2012. Not to mention, that was when "alternative" started sounding like jingles and Taco Bell ad music. Shit sucks. Make it a WWJ simulcast.

Was jazz on mainline FM that awful or billed that horrid to warrant *not* having them back on 98.7?
98.7FM/HD2 is still “v98.7”….. so why not back to the main channel?

Re: Fault 98.7's morning show is fired
It surprises me how many times I have told people how much I miss The Breeze. At the time of its existence, I complained about so much Ed Sheeran and Adele for a soft/gold AC, but I didn't realize how good I had it now that it's replaced with this "Alt" crap. I wish The Breeze were still with us, it's still on my car presets with The Breeze logo; I haven't replaced it because there is nothing else in this market worth replacing it with.

Did not see that one coming

Change is surely coming. They're not going to fire the morning show without something planned. My money is after Christmas, it'll be a WWJ simulcast or the return of Smooth Jazz V98.7.

Format changes should be abrupt, and without warning. The corporate practice of easing into a flip is, well...lame. I'm not entirely convinced. We'll see.lush.rimbaugh wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 11:48 amChange is surely coming. They're not going to fire the morning show without something planned.
