I turned in this afternoon. HugeShow is still on 1270.Colonel Flagg wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 11:45 amThe Large One was supposedly buying the time on 1270. It's hard for me to imagine David Field and friends would want to lose that revenue. I can only imagine the gigantic electric bill for 1270.windsorjoe wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 8:55 pmWCAR is the only “sports” station that would take him.BayCityJohn2337 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 10:34 pmSo will anyone else pick up the H*** show in the Detroit radio market?
When Chuck Fritz owned the station, it was a contender. Now, it's pure uniblab, with no discernible audience.
They were still airing H*** and Rome shows this week.windsorjoe wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:25 pmI’ll have to give it a listen to try out.
I do like the CBS Sports Radio shows. Glad I can still listen to them on Sirius.
Poor HugeShow - finally got his show in the Detroit market and now probably getting the boot from WXYT - unless someone else heard different.
If they wanted to stay close to the theme, they could be playing "Bet"te Midler, or perhaps BS&T's "Go Down Gamblin' ".Mega Hertz wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 5:05 am"Coming up on 1270 the Bet, the odds of all MLB games this weekend, but first, here's Queen!"
Is this the real life...is this just fantasy

I like your examples, and this one sounds like a format idea I had years ago - Newsmetal. A marketing angle was "when you want to bang your head, but still fill it with the latest headlines" (or "bang your head-lines", if you will). The slogan was "Life is hard - and so are we."Mega Hertz wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 9:23 pm"News/talk 810, weather and traffic on the 6s, but first, Guns N Roses"
That might have been cool 20+ years ago, problem is now most who listen to any kind of rock or metal don't believe in the news. Someone taught me a lesson years ago that you're gonna have massive tune out either by people who dislike one of the two formats. So trust me, you were not alone in thinking of a format like thatMusicrewired wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 1:34 pmI like your examples, and this one sounds like a format idea I had years ago - Newsmetal. There was more to it, including a merging of a teletype machine sound with a pounding metal beat, and other copy lines, but the overall concept was the juxtaposition of seemingly disparate audiences and formats, and blending them into one.
