no, bell decided they wanted to shut off their two biggest analog transmitters, CKCO-TV-3 and CJOH-TV-6 in Deseronto... no surprise there. I think bell and shaw dream of turning CTV and Global into general-entertainment cable channels (and will eventuallhy pressure the CRTC to allow for such a category), so they can shutter their transmitters and go cable-only.

What RF Channel CKCO-3 is moving to? Or is it going off the air for good?

It *WAS* allocated UHF 26 if it were to convert to digital operations, but now it's going to be signing off for good.

Reminds me of exactly what CBS and Fox threatened to do if they lost the Aereo lawsuit a few years back, go cable-only.RingtailedFox wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 7:49 pmI think bell and shaw dream of turning CTV and Global into general-entertainment cable channels (and will eventuallhy pressure the CRTC to allow for such a category), so they can shutter their transmitters and go cable-only.
My furthest DTV tropo: KDKA Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 202 miles for three days in January 2017 and a night in September 2017 with only an Antennas Direct C2V!
Current setup: Antennas Direct C2Max (2018-present)

As time goes on there will be less over-the-air television stations especially with this whole conversion to ATSC 3.0, The cost is phenomenal and television stations don’t have the money to convert, So as time passes it will be more internet television it’s cheaper in the long run for the broadcasters and some over-the-air stations will remain ATSC 1.0.

I would imagine CFPL and CHWI flipping from CTV2 to the main CTV network, but then, their broadcasting plans were always too nearsighted. Even the CRTC is still hemming and hawing on the use of subchannels.
As for CJOH's Deseronto transmitter, no big loss, as the region already gets CTV programming from CKWS or CHEX, both having flipped from CBC a couple of years back.

I'm not sure sure CFPL would, or even COULD flip, since there's significant overlap with Kitchener's CKCO. Both stations' signals cover the other's city decently well....

Should CKCO-3 flip to UHF 30 for its digital signal with virtual channel 42.1?

From an ethical perspective, CKCO-3 should convert to DTV, but they won't. They're owned by Bell Media, the owner of Canada's cable and satellite TV providers.Gerald1981! wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 8:22 pmShould CKCO-3 flip to UHF 30 for its digital signal with virtual channel 42.1?
With OTA television out of the way (except in areas with US signals available, such as Windsor and Niagara Falls), they will soon be able to charge whatever they want for access to television, likely CN$200/month, perhaps even CN$300.

Wanna bet that Bell will try to bribe stations in Detroit and Buffalo to go cable only as well? No doubt that would cause Comcast to lick their chops.innate-in-you wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 12:35 amFrom an ethical perspective, CKCO-3 should convert to DTV, but they won't. I doubt that will ever happen, this will no doubt cause an uproar among everyone, including the US networks.rugratsonline wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 11:28 pmWanna bet that Bell will try to bribe stations in Detroit and Buffalo to go cable only as well?
