The number of times CBS has changed their theme is insane. NBC has had the same theme since 1986, with slight variations.

Network news certainly has a rich history. Back in those early days when these special reports came on you know it was serious. Nowadays it's just sensationalized and overused and as a result it lost it's impact.

Viewers of The Price is Right know the feeling, as 95% of CBS's "special reports" break into TPIR, regardless of how newsworthy it is. (A couple of days ago it broke in to announce Bernie Sanders leaving the race -- news that's better left until 12 Noon or the evening.)
