Communist Idea Of The Month

Post by Ben Zonia » Mon Apr 22, 2024 5:31 pm

Socialist Sweden out of control.

Private citizens turn in improperly parked cars in private lots, ticketed citizens are then fined by public enforcers. Stool pigeons then get kickbacks.

This would have to be unconstitutional in the US. Besides, some cars are over lines because of other adjacent cars previously parked. How would they know who parked first?

Like someone commented, free parking in private shopping centers without obtrusive meter maids is one reason downtowns are abandoned in many cities.

Cars aren't in the constitution genius. Traverse City's downtown is packed and there is no free parking anywhere.

Also, you probably aren't aware of this...
The IRS Whistleblower Program
The Internal Revenue Service’s whistleblower office incentivizes people to report tax evasion and other tax law violations.

The IRS Whistleblower Program rewards whistleblowers by paying 15 to 30% of government recoveries that result from the whistleblower’s reporting to the IRS Whistleblower Program.

I thought Sweden was in the graces of CONservatives after sticking it to the transgenders? That didn't last long.
They/them, non-binary and proud.

That's why many people avoid downtown areas though. Think how many people they are losing.

Bohemian Socialist types of all descriptions are attracted to such cities and like that atmosphere. Personally, I like small towns who identify as small towns.

Another reason why you should stay out of Traverse City and remain happy. We are the most successful fastest growing community per capita in the Midwest. And, we are very socialist.
If you visit the Traverse City Opera House, thank the Bohemians. If you “smooch the moose” at Sleder’s Tavern, thank the Bohemians. If you “trip the light fantastic” at the Cedar Polka Festival, thank the Bohemians. There is even a Traverse City street that owes its name to the Bohemians.

First populated by Native Americans, in the mid-1800s a kaleidoscope of Europeans spread across northern Michigan. Many of those immigrants were Bohemian, and, as with other ethnicities, their legacy still enriches the area today.

The City Opera House, which celebrates its 128th anniversary, is perhaps the most impressive bequest of those Bohemians.

Its 1892 opening fulfilled the dreams of businessmen Anton Bartak , Frank Votruba, and brothers John Jr. and Charles Wilhelm.

All four men’s families came from what today is the Czech Republic. The Wilhelms, as did many others, hailed from Ondrejov, a village near Prague. Perhaps family members were regaled with stories of the grand opera houses of that city, and wished to grace their American home with similar cultural opportunities.

I disagree that the Traverse City area is sociologically homogenous. 90% of the Metropolitan Area population as just recently defined is still mainly a resort and vacation residence and retirement area. Few are "one percenters", they go to the Hamptons and beyond. If they put on their hippie garb and go to town, they are poseurs. There may be quite a few "ten percenters".

A four county Metro area for a town of less than 16000 is very unusual. The 90% of the population outside of Traverse City proper have a lot more in common with the other resort, vacation residence, and retirement areas of the state than to Traverse City proper.

I'm not talking about Grawn or the slums of Benzie County. I'm talking about Traverse City. You should probably avoid the region. We managed to chase Roy out a decade ago too.
