Trump Brand costing billionaires millions

Here's a story of woe. Billionaires who invested in the gaudy "Trump Luxury" of Manhattan have found their real estate to be underperforming. Just another pack of victims who hitched to the Trump wagon.
In a one-year window, condos in buildings that had the Trump logo went from selling at a 1 percent premium compared with similar units, to selling for 4 percent less, meaning that Trump condos became a “bargain” among the city’s luxury units, said Mr. Van Nieuwerburgh, a professor of real estate.

Even the Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, one of the crowning achievements of the Trump brand, whose 80-foot cascade flowing down a wall of peach marble was reportedly built with slabs handpicked at a quarry in Italy by Mr. Trump’s ex-wife, saw the average price per square foot of its condominiums tumble 49 percent since 2013, according to Ondel Hylton, the senior director of content and research at CityRealty. The building’s age, growing competition from the ultra-luxurious condos on nearby Billionaires’ Row and regular protests have all dampened interest, Mr. Hylton said.

By contrast, condominiums in four buildings where the Trump logo was removed at the behest of residents — sometimes after a legal battle — have seen their value shoot back up.

“This analysis cleanly identifies that it is the Trump brand that is responsible for the value deterioration,” Mr. Van Nieuwerburgh said. “Removing the Trump name from the building removes the loss associated with the name.”

Just a temporary setback. The Trump brand will rise again like a Phoenix from the ashes and be a shining example for Corporate America. Like Turkey says, America adores Trump. Truly an unfairly persecuted underdog.
Life is not a dress rehearsal. This is it. There's no going back, and we can only go forward before we run out of runway.

Watch out Michael Jordan and Chuck Taylor, Donald Trump is the next shill for shoes. I wonder what he charges for kid parties.

Image
The former president took to the stage at Sneaker Con — facing a less friendly audience than is typical for his political rallies — brandishing golden shoes called the “Never Surrender High-Top,” which follow in the footsteps of Trump-branded products like Trump Water, Trump Vodka and Trump Steaks.

“Wow, a lot of emotion, there’s a lot of emotion in this room,” Mr. Trump said after boos and cheers drowned out his voice as he began speaking. He added, “We’re going to remember the young people, we’re going to remember Sneaker Con.”

The appearance, just hours before a scheduled campaign rally in Michigan, is the latest effort by Mr. Trump to capitalize on his brand as he faces staggering penalties in civil court cases and 91 felony counts across four criminal indictments. In just the past year, Mr. Trump has promoted trading cards, his mug shot, scraps of his clothes and firearms bearing his name and likeness.

The website selling the shoes says they are not “designed, manufactured, distributed or sold by Donald J. Trump,” adding that “GetTrumpSneakers.com is not political and has nothing to do with any political campaign.” But the company is using Mr. Trump’s brand through a licensing agreement, under which he would most likely get a cut of the revenue. Mr. Trump, his campaign and surrogates have all promoted the shoes either at the convention or online

By the time he gets out of prison, most of the buildings with his name on them will be rebranded.
