Israel isn't no angels but their reaction is understandable. Innocent Palestinian civilians cannot excise the cancer of Hamas from their neighborhoods. I really don't think the U.S. should step in unless its to take some sort of humanitarian aid role.

Shouldn't be up to the Israelis to figure that out. The innocent Palestinian citizens are in the West Bank. The folks in Gaza strip elected Hamas as their leaders. If somebody (Jordan? Syria? Egypt? U.N.?) wants to volunteer to go into the Gaza strip and separate the "members of Hamas" from the rest of the folks (if any are left) then I'm sure the Israelis would be interested in working something out.
