I tend to agree with that limit. Though I'd say two FULL terms (if you get appointed mid-term, those are "free" and don't count toward the term limit) for both the Senate and House, up to four total. If, for example, a house member hits the limit, they can run for Senate, and vice-versa.

So we have bi-partisan support?
-15 year limit in Senate (2 terms + 1/2 of a pre-appointed term)
-13 year limit in the House (6 terms + 1/2 of a pre-appointed term)
-House and Senate limits are separately counted (so 28 years combined theoretical max)
Ok, now how do we get this into law?

Voting for Trump is dumber than playing Russian Roulette with fully loaded chambers.

I would absolutely support said bill. I believe one of the major issues in government is it is a "fat and happy" job. Look at all the perks. I'd kill to get as much vacation time as they get. And then you get re-elected based on name recognition. You can't beat it. So yes, term limits are where it's at. Why should the executive branch and legislative branch be held to two different sets of rules? It obviously changed for president after Roosevelt so it can be done.bmw wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 7:41 pmSo we have bi-partisan support?

Exactly. A bunch of people that want to ride the gravy train as long as they can and rake in the cash and benefits are gonna vote against their own self-interest. It's a cute thing for Ted Cruz to step up and propose because he knows it has no shot in hell of passing but he can throw their hands up and say, "Hey I tried!!!!"

But here's the thing. I'm thinking a member that steps down from Congress would have it made.Motown322 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 9:13 pmExactly. Speaker fees, sitting on the board of a half dozen corporations and universities at the same time. Millions a year.
And of course showing up on TV as a high paid political consultant for some network.
Life is not a dress rehearsal. This is it. There's no going back, and we can only go forward before we run out of runway.

In some ways, I support term limits, and other times I don't. Marcy Kaptur, from my district in Toledo, has been in the same seat since the early 80's, and she still cares about her constituents. Those in the Senate for the most part, seem to care more about their corporate donors the longer they're in.

The Presidents son may be a complete and total asshole.
Please explain how that reflects on the President.

10 percent to the big guy?
Sonofabitch, they fired the prosecutor that was looking into the company that my son was getting millions from when I threatened to withdraw loan guarantees?
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

I'm still waiting for our resident political hack to address this.

How about we wait until the deed is actually done because right now the Republican house members look so incompetent I'd be surprised if they could spell "cat" even if you spotted them a 'C' and a 'T', let alone craft a successful impeachment effort.bmw wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 10:16 amI'm still waiting for our resident political hack to address this.
