I think maybe there should either be an age limit for politicians or some sort of cognitive test that needs to be passed or you are removed from office. To keep it " fair" if you flunk the test the party you belong to picks your replacement. The tests should happen every two years at age 62 then every year at age 70. If at any point your scores begin to drop the tests become more frequent.

Whatever happened to Republicans in CA? I'd swear they used to have a chance (Reagan, Rorabacher[?]) And I think the San Diego area tends to lean more to the right.

GOP owned the governorship here in the 80s and 90s. I live in Orange County (for a few more days) and it used to be notoriously Republican but has changed recently and now is about 50/50.
