Trump in 24.

America adores Trump.
I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.

Putting aside the fact that most Americans, including myself, recognize that Donald Trump is unfit for office, there is a decent chance he's going to win. A running mate likely starts in a good spot for 2028, win or lose.
Voting for Trump is dumber than playing Russian Roulette with fully loaded chambers.

IF Trump were to pick DeSantis and do so early, that would pretty much end the Republican primary before it even starts. For Trump, such a move would make absolute sense, both for getting the nomination as well as giving him the best chance in the general election.

The calculus for DeSantis is more complicated as I see potential negatives all over the place, even assuming Trump gets the nomination, as follows:

Scenario 1: Trump/DeSantis win the general election. While DeSantis would be the de facto nominee in 2028, there's no telling what the mood of the country would be after another 4 years of Trump, in which case, DeSantis may be better off not being tied to a Trump administration.

Scenario 2: Trump/DeSantis lose the general election. Obviously not good for DeSantis moving forward having been part of a losing ticket, and maybe even more complicated if Trump were to decide to run again in 2028.

It just seems to risky to me for DeSantis to tie himself to Trump, and I think he would be better off not running at all this year if he doesn't think he has a legitimate shot at the nomination.

Why not, it worked well for Pence.

I would support this 110%! Strictly for the entertainment value... (I might even vote for them, as those four years would be a hilarious shitshow!) :hat
