I have had dysphoria since 4th grade but just didn’t have a name for it. Two spirited people have been acknowledged by indigenous people in this country for thousands of years. To say that we don’t exist pisses me off. There are plenty of kids who are going to kill themselves now that they can’t get puberty blockers in backwards ass states like Oklahoma and Arkansas. Puberty blockers simply delay the onset until the kid hits 18 and they can make their own choices.

As for me, I was sheltered in a Puritanical bubble until I graduated college in 2007. I never got counseling because I felt used in 1st grade when my parents’ marriage was on the rocks. Call it arrested development, call it what you will. I was simply trying to survive an abusive father who ran our house like the tyrannical fascists you love. It took me moving out at 26(2009)to realize how fucked up I was raised and start to find who I was. Before, I was simply channeling what my parents embraced. It was like escaping a fucking cult. You cannot pretend to know because you didn’t live it. Only my brother and I know the shit we went through. Research Stockholm syndrome.

Hope you're getting some help now, MCRF. Therapy, support groups, etc. I would imagine coming out and realizing your true identity is a big step, however I don't know if this board is the best place to discuss the issue.
