Mainstream media not happy that Covid emergency is over

Yahoo News: ""WHO's declaration of the 'end' of the virus emergency is sending out dangerous mixed messages and doesn't address the real problem"

https://news.yahoo.com/covid-19-emergen ... 17048.html

The Guardian: "Is Covid really over? WHO’s announcement sounds more like surrender than victory"

https://www.allsides.com/media-bias/media-bias-chart

Scientific American: "World COVID Emergency Status Is Over, but Dangerous Threat Remains"

https://www.allsides.com/news-source/sc ... c-american

Instead of being a bunch of sourpusses, why not a CELEBRATION? The daily death rate is down nearly 97% compared to a year and a half ago and worldwide is at its lowest point since the first few months of the pandemic. Daily case rates and mortality rates are right now lower than anybody a year or so ago thought possible by now, and we haven't had a new major variant since Omicron hit the scene a year and a half ago (also not predicted as most scientists a year ago were predicting more dangerous variants to come). And barring some major new variant, Covid is destined to continue to fade into the background.

It's interesting that there are no stories about covid overreactions.

That's because the press (as imagined by our founding fathers) long ago gave up its primary function of acting as a government watchdog. They're now largely just the opposite: pro-government-everything.

The “fair and impartial press” is a mid-twentieth century fantasy. Before that they were in the back pockets of their owners and were political as hell. Kinda like now.

As for being pro-government-everything… I don’t see anybody reporting straight news openly cheerleading needing a bigger government and here’s why. But in case you missed it in your headlines… fear sells papers and gets clicks. That’s what that is. Celebrating would sell considerably less. That’s the real conspiracy here not some delusion about political slant. They benefit monetarily from as much chaos and destruction as possible.
