39 House Republicans Voted For the Same-Sex Marriage Bill

Post by TC Talks » Thu Dec 08, 2022 7:36 pm

It's about time we put all this nonsense aside and just let people enjoy or loathe marriage. Between this and the support for safe choices when it comes to abortion, it seems like the country is finally turning it's back to these radical hateful Evangelicals.
Legislation to mandate federal recognition for same-sex marriages cleared Congress on Thursday after passing both chambers with bipartisan support.

While the key breakthrough came in the Senate, where Democrats needed Republican backing to move the measure forward, a larger-than-expected group of House Republicans embraced it over the summer. Ultimately a smaller number supported its final passage on Thursday, and it passed by a vote of 258-169, with one voting “present.”

Eight Republicans who had backed the legislation in July abandoned it on Thursday. Representatives Cliff Bentz of Oregon; Mario Diaz-Balart, Brian Mast and Maria Salazar of Florida; Dan Meuser and Scott Perry of Pennsylvania; and Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey switched their votes to “no.” Representative Burgess Owens of Utah, who supported the bill over the summer, switched his position to “present.”

Here are the 39 Republicans who voted “yes,” with asterisks denoting the two who switched their votes after opposing it over the summer.

No, they aren’t done sucking up. The hate from the Evilgelical right has filtered in to school boards. These idiotic parents don’t want their children taught that LGBT people exist.

Did you notice the pile on by the bigots when the gay black woman was released from Russia?

Another effort to rob Americans of their rights has been blocked.
WASHINGTON — President Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law on Tuesday, mandating federal recognition for same-sex marriages and capping his own personal evolution toward embracing gay rights over the course of a four-decade political career.

Well here is why I have mixed opinions.

When Bill Clinton was President, he had Newt and a Republican Congress. There was genuine dislike between the two... And we had lower government spending and a couple of surpluses because you can't spend money when Congress dislikes you.

Today all the news is about how we are 'more divided than ever' so if that's true, the Republican house won't let Biden spend money. We all know they'll be happy to pass a stupid big spending bill when that time comes and play the 'we are protecting the military' card by voting for it.

IF the supreme court squashes the student loan forgiveness, the US will record a much lower deficit than it's had in years. And President Biden will take that win if he wants to run again.

How would a better quality of life at the cost of a deficit that never really has consequences impact you?

Well China could use the money they earn when we buy their goods to raise the quality of life of their workers instead of loaning it back to us. So the deficit really comes at the expense of third world slaves to the benefit of first world American and European's.

Don't take me as a hypocrite, my smart phone was made in China by slave labor. I can acknowledge I am part of the problem.

But we have record low unemployment so the deficit should be coming down. Joe Biden would be a living Saint if he could post a surplus before 2024, and keep in mind record low young adults are joining the armed services.

'Deficit's don't matter' was from VP Dick Cheney to John Snow. Cheney was awful but got GW elected twice.

Your concerns about China have some merit. But it's a bigger problem in the textile industry across the Pacific rim.

That has nothing to do with LGBTQ+ issues.

Even Christian performers support Gay Marriage...
Grant told the Washington Post that she and husband Vince Gill planned to host her niece’s wedding — their “first bride and bride wedding,” she called it — at their Hidden Trace Farm in Franklin, Tennessee, just outside Nashville.

The singer-songwriter said when she learned that her niece is a lesbian, her reaction was, “What a gift to our whole family, to just widen the experience of our whole family,” adding, “Honestly, from a faith perspective, I do always say, ‘Jesus, you just narrowed it down to two things: love God and love each other. I mean, hey — that’s pretty simple.”

If there’s a villain in this real life fairytale, it might just be Franklin Graham, who is doing a bang up job stepping into his late father’s hateful shoes. The elder Graham, Billy, was often viewed through a more charitable lens — he was known in some circles as a great “evangelical uniter” — but no doubt his sentiments on homosexuality had a lasting impact on Franklin. “We traffic in homosexuality at the peril of our spiritual warfare,” Billy wrote in a newspaper advice column in the ‘90s.

"Love God and love each other". I couldn't have said it better.

Some people like Frankie Graham will never get it.
