Gun Laws At Work

Washington DC pretty much has enacted the liberal "wish list" , short of an outright ban of ALL, when it comes to firearm law.

Permit required to purchase? Yes The firearm registration process also serves as a permitting process.
Owner license required? Yes The firearm registration process also serves as a licensing process.
Firearm registration? Yes All firearms except certain black powder firearms, must be registered
with the Metropolitan Police Department. A background check and
online training are required.
License required for concealed carry? Yes The Metropolitan Police Department shall issue a License to Carry a
Handgun to a qualified applicant.
Open carry allowed? No Open carry is prohibited.
Assault weapon law? Yes Assault weapons and .50 BMG rifles prohibited.
Magazine capacity restriction? Yes Illegal to possess magazines of more than 10 round capacity.
NFA weapons restricted? Yes Automatic firearms, short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, and
silencers prohibited.
Peaceable journey laws? No
private sales? Yes DC Code §7–2505.02 Private party firearm transfers must be conducted through a licensed dealer, who is required by federal law to conduct a background check and keep a record of the sale. This only applies to sales made within the District of Columbia. Sales made by DC firearms owners outside of the District of Columbia must only conform to that state's transfer laws.
Waiting period? Yes After purchasing a firearm, the buyer must wait ten days before taking possession of
the gun.
Red flag law? Yes Yes
Duty to inform? Yes Yes

Yet....

DC shooting: Teenager killed, 3 adults including police officer injured
Contee also said several illegal firearms were recovered by police officers earlier in the night and at least one firearm had an extended magazine. The firearm that was used on the officer was not recovered, he said.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Criminals don't follow laws, or care about "gun free zones" other than the fact that it gives them an advantage.

Years ago, in DC, someone broke into a house of a famous journalist. The Journalist shot the intruder with his hand gun. When the police got there, they arrested both the burglar and the journalist. The police admitted that the journalist acted in self defense. But just the fact that he had a gun made him a criminal. In fact, if he were to be convicted, his punishment just for having a gun was more than the punishment the burglar would have received for breaking in.
