Strong Jobs Report Shows Resilient Economy. Thanks Biden!

Post by TC Talks » Fri Feb 04, 2022 9:46 pm

Another strong jobs report thanks to the Biden Administration.
Employers added 467,000 jobs in January, seasonally adjusted, the Labor Department said on Friday. The report smashed the projections of economists, who had been expecting the wave of coronavirus cases associated with the Omicron variant to lead to anemic gains, if not an outright decline in jobs. Instead, employers kept on hiring.

“Clearly something is different about this surge,” said Julia Pollak, chief economist for the career site ZipRecruiter. Companies that struggled all fall to recruit workers weren’t about to reverse course just because cases shot up for a few weeks, she said. Even restaurants and hotels, which slashed jobs during earlier pandemic waves, hired workers last month.

“Employers who have been engaged in this dogfight for talent, they’re not standing down,” Ms. Pollak said. “They are sticking around because they think the surge will be over soon.”

It was well done, but I would like to see better repair to the supply chain. I think we need to take the restrictions off for truck drivers as far as the vaccine mandates.

I would say he’s not. 400,000 jobs with supply chain issues as they are is a decent achievement.

I would have thought those numbers would have been higher being as around 9 million people quit their jobs in November and December of 2021. Employers nationwide are having trouble filling vacant positions, yet for some reason a large portion of the population doesn't feel the need to work.
About 4.3 million people handed in their resignations in December, the Department of Labor said Tuesday. That's down slightly from November, when an all-time monthly high of 4.5 million Americans quit their jobs.

Layoffs hit a historic low in December as employers held on to their current workforce amid struggles to hire new employees.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

They have to have some money stashed away. At some point they’ll have to come back into the fold. A sizable number of those folks may be baby boomers throwing in the towel. They won’t be back.

Could some of it be women with children leaving the workforce because of the monthly tax credit per child they are now receiving?

I believe that credit ended in December. AOC has been complaining it needs to be restarted ASAP.

Best part was Fox News predicting disaster jobs report all morning - and then when it was better than good - their financial talking heads and economy experts all eating crow - while the anchors were choking down THEIR feathery servings.

Some of the best conservative comedy I’ve seen on live TV. Other than their reaction to Pence saying “President Trump is wrong!” at The Heritage Foundation re-education camp meeting last week.

Could be but now that would put them at home taking care of the kids in theory. There might be a benefit to that. If it meant that somebody was watching the little buggers more and helping them be more well rounded it would be money well spent.

Whatever talking head who put that idea in Bryce's head seems incorrect.

All of that points to a slow but steady strengthening of the labor market as people come back online.
