My 401k lost over 20% of its value from year to date.

For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty-six

It all really depends on what its invested in. Think about it this way... The stock market last November hit an all time high of just north of 36,000. In March of 2009 it bottomed out at 6300. That means that at its previous close (30000-ish) it was still worth 24,000 points more than its most recent bottom. Audiophile wants you to light your hair on fire about that.

I don't have a lot of confidence in 401k's. We're in troubled times and my 401k is taking a beating. I have been kicking around the idea of buying silver bullion. Prices are fairly reasonable for an ounce. Maybe a little diversification won't hurt.

401K is a sucker's game. Avoid at all costs.

Bump.

Dunno where audiophiles investments are sittling, probably Christrian broadcasting and chastity belt futures, but I have done quite well so far in 2023.

When OP does the five-knuckle shuffle it sounds like the Salvation Army is collecting around Christmas because he has a set of keys in the opposite hand holding him up as he peeks around a door frame.

BTW, I like your new profile pic infinitely more. I would prefer one showing her long legs, but this is clearly a change in the right direction.

What ever you do, don't try and chase the market or time it. It makes for quick way to get clobbered.

He probably thinks it is because of the Biden impeachment inquiry.

My investment in TQQQ is up about $7400 year-to-date. That recoups the amount it lost and then some the year before. Nice to finally be back in the green.
