Breyer to retire at end of term
Breyer to retire at end of term
That's what RBG should have done.

In related news, Nancy Pelosi will have to be dragged out of Congress dead.

Re: Breyer to retire at end of term
Fortunately the Republicans cannot filibuster a Supreme Court vote, so I look forward to a proper progressive Supreme Court Justice soon.

Of course, if Joe selects a dud Manchin might vote no.

Any early word as to the list of judges Biden is likely to consider?
Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

That worked out so well with his VP choice.Matt wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 6:50 pmOnly black women.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 6:02 pmAny early word as to the list of judges Biden is likely to consider?
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

"Only Black Women" to be considered by Brandon for a SCJ?? Hmm, choosing one because of their shade of skin and not by qualifications or content of character? Sounds racist to me.....
Re: Breyer to retire at end of term
Maybe he'll nominate Kamala Harris
In all seriousness though, he eliminates 93% of the population by right off the bat by saying he'll put up a black woman. Just like with VP.
Nice to know qualifications mean nothing.

Matt - No I didn't. I was just joking. I had no idea that anybody was even seriously throwing her name out there.
I can't imagine he'd choose her.

Raymond Kethledge, a Michigan native, could probably get support from most or all Republicans.

Re: Breyer to retire at end of term
His pick might not be the slam dunk everyone thinks it's going to be. Sinema and Manchin were vilified by any number of the lefties over the filibuster vote. Now these name callers think they can count on their vote to push a far left nominee through? There is reason to believe they can't.

Re: Breyer to retire at end of term
The mainstream media is already circling the wagons in support of a far left Justice and in smearing Manchin and Sinema before so much as a nominee is named, let alone voted on.
Headline from CNN this morning:
"Biden can't let Sinema and Manchin short-circuit his Supreme Court nomination"
https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/26/opinions ... index.html
My guess is this - Biden doesn't have to worry about Sinema. Assuming he goes with a woman, he probably has her vote no matter how far left. Manchin may be another story. The correct move politically would probably be for Biden to pick someone halfway between moderate-left and far-left, but by eliminating 93% of all possible candidates right off the top with his black woman requirement, that may be difficult to find someone who is qualified and fills that spot on the political spectrum.
