I actually read the linked article. I don't think Harris's response to the student indicates in any way that she supports anything the student said. All she said is that the student has the right to speak his mind.
Myself, I'm seeing Harris doing a bit of distancing from Biden. A little bit of "We're not joined at the hip". She may see that as beneficial later on.

The last guy in office was a fucking reality TV show host. Pence would've needed to be an 8-term president to offset that.
