If Juneteenth is based on a legal definition, it should only be observed in states where slavery was legal at the time of the Emancipation Proclamation. Here is a U.S. map that shows where slavery was legal and illegal in 1860:

If Christmas was more than merely a consumer event anymore, I'd say let's bag that one too...
Give the liberals time. It won't be long before there are growing calls to eliminate Christmas as a federal holiday. Mark my words.

According to the link below from WDIV, there are Juneteenth sales today in Detroit.
Anyone have a white sale?

Like moving Dr. King's birthday into a three day weekend.
It's not as special anymore when it goes from celebrating the life of a great man into an excuse to take an extra day off.
Without looking it up, what day was Dr. King born on? Think about it.
Dr. King is all but cast aside by the new racial activists. His goal was to have all people judged by the content of their character. These folks pass judgment on the color of ones skin to foment racial divide .

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

If they keep adding federal holidays without removing some eventually they will have 365 and Government works won't actually work.
This is the first federal holiday that's been approved since MLK Day in 1983, nearly 40 years ago. I don't think we're on a slippery slope to never working.

Hummm... I would have thought you'd have been more concerned about having an ample supply of white sheets to mark the occasion.

I’ll bring the scissors… just have to resist the urge to run with them…

See, if they had a white sale, they could display scissors next to the sheets for an add-on item for extra profit.
