Saturday Night Live has yet to impersonate Biden since he's been in office

Post by bmw » Thu May 27, 2021 8:27 pm

They just had their season finale. Does anyone find it at all odd that now more than 4 months into the Biden Presidency that they have yet to have anybody actually impersonate Joe Biden? They did do some impersonations during the debates, but not a single one since he's been President.

SNL has been on the air 45 years and I'm pretty sure this is the first time that the current President has been off limits. Remember too that Nancy Pelosi was off limits when she tore up Trump's SOTU Address in 2020.

Their reason certainly can't be for lack of material. I suspect that just like with Pelosi, liberal executives are forbidding it.

They've impersonated every other Democrat in the past. Even Obama wasn't spared.

What is so special about Joe Biden? 45 years on the air and they've been best known for their cold open Presidential impersonations.

They tried Jim Carrey and he was terrible and probably cost too much.

Who cares, anyway?

I think it might be that Biden is just bland. He doesn't have any distinctive mannerisms.

Trump provided them with a wealth of material. He was like a caricature of himself.

They seemed to find enough with the just-as-bland Gerald Ford.

Gerald (with the bandaid on his forehead) Ford :lol

I notice that Jimmy Fallon is getting a lot of use of the footage of Biden falling when he's climbing the ladder to Air Force 1.

I am shocked that this is an issue. ROFL. Who cares?

I'll not comment on the rest of your post. To be honest, I only catch SNL on YouTube lately.

But I swear they did a skit with Pelosi ripping up papers while Baldwin was doing the Donald. If I get some time on Saturday, I'm going to search YouTube for the first cold open after Trump's State of the Union.

Jim Carey was fantastic impersonating Biden. Regular cast members who have tried now that he’s president - totally suck at the task. SNL needs to bring back Carey or spend money on some other star. Maya Rudolph as Kamala Harris is very good. But yeah - SNL had better play ball with Biden’s characterization quick. I wonder if they want Carey and he’s holding out for more money/contract perks? He was funny. People would tune in to watch him. Just like they did Baldwin’s Trump.

Who could entertainingly play Biden besides Jim Carey?

Past impersonators include Kevin Nealon....

and Jason Sudekis...

Good - but Jim Carey better. Because Carey captures much older Joe Biden trying to appear young again. While Nealon’s Biden was much younger.

By the way - Obama went on SNL and played himself.

I think it's a reasonable question to ponder since SNL has a long history of mocking politicians regardless of political party.
Has something changed to put Joe off limits?
I don't watch the show anymore because I don't change my sleep schedule for the weekend. Do they make fun of the VP?

Could be that it's just plain wrong to poke fun of someone in the early stages of dementia.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.
