H.R.127 - Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act
As proposed by Sheila Jackson Lee (D) Texas
https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-con ... l/127/text
The Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act would establish a national database that is supposed to include every gun in the country, make it a felony to own a firearm or ammunition without a costly and hard to get license from the Justice Department, ban magazines that hold more than 10 rounds and "ammunition that is 0.50 caliber or greater," and criminalize possession of a "military-style weapon" without a special and even more costly license. The registration requirement applies to both currently owned firearms and guns purchased after the bill takes effect.
Failure to comply would be punishable by a minimum fine of $75,000, a minimum prison sentence of 15 years, or both.
Sabika Sheikh, whom this bill is named after, was a foreign exchange student from Pakistan who was murdered in the 2018 mass shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas. The murder was committed by a 17-year-old that used a revolver and a shotgun. It is and was already illegal for a 17-year-old to possess a handgun of any type and shotguns wouldn't be covered by her lengthy, draconian bill that bans "military-style weapons." In other words, her bill has nothing to do with the crime she invokes to justify it.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Finally. At least Biden isn't fumbling his chance to leverage the House and Senate while they're on the compassionate side of the debate.

Let's not get me confused with Majorie Taylor Greene. You and she are all for denying gun violence and mass shootings.

I had my window smashed. I bought a window, not a gun.

Re: This Didn't Take Long...
Wait, what?
Take two seconds and think about the repercussions of this. A publicly accessible database of who has guns and where to find them. Worse, a database that identifies who doesn't own a gun. Criminals everywhere rejoice! The US Govt wants to make your "job" so much easier! The Attorney General shall make the contents of the database accessible to all members of the public, all Federal, State and local law enforcement authorities, all branches of the United States Armed Forces, and all State and local governments, as defined by the Bureau.
Wellllll... la de frickin da
Re: This Didn't Take Long...
You are thinking like a normal person not a criminal. Criminals aren’t that smart. They generally aren’t able to spell database let alone use one to target a person.Robert Faygo wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 10:46 pmWait, what?

So apparently only rich people would be legally allowed to have guns? You think crime is an issue in poor areas now? Turn this into law and you may as well just turn entire cities into federal prisons.FIREARM INSURANCE.—
(1). IN GENERAL.—The Attorney General shall issue to any person who has applied for a license pursuant to subsection (c) and has paid to the Attorney General the fee specified in paragraph (2) of this subsection a policy that insures the person against liability for losses and damages resulting from the use of any firearm by the person during the 1-year period that begins with the date the policy is issued.
(2). FEE—The fee specified in this paragraph is $800.

Long since time....
They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

History of the Nazis disarming Jews before World War II, which enabled and led to the Holocaust. I guess this is why history is rewritten and suppressed. Much of what was in such publications as Mein Kampf, The Communist Manifesto, Das Kapital, and even "fiction" like Animal Farm, 1984, and Brave New World, are now being used as idea books for the total domination and eventual destruction of mankind. It is Satanic. People who support gun control are agents of Satan.

Disagreeing with Communists is NOT an impeachable offense.

Re: This Didn't Take Long...
Ask yourself this. If this monstrosity would actually pass, who would it most likely impact? Normal, law abiding citizens or violent criminals?
Look at reports of violent crime in our area. You will see story after story of people with prior felony convictions committing violent crimes and murder with a firearm. A person with a felony conviction is prohibited from possessing a firearm. Under federal law, the crime of Felon in Possession of a Firearm is a Class D felony, punishable by up to ten years in prison, three years of supervised release, and $250,000 in fines. The Armed Career Criminal Act (ACCA), 18 U.S.C. 924(e), mandates a minimum 15-year term of imprisonment for any person convicted of Felon in Possession of a Firearm if the person has three prior state or federal convictions for violent felonies or serious drug offenses.
It would seem that there are a fair amount of violent criminals that don't follow the firearm laws we currently have on the books. What makes you think they will follow the laws laid out in this new bill?
This should be named the "Taking guns away from law abiding citizens so criminals can prey on you act."

It's wasn't dummies that were hacking various government, business and college computer systems and holding them for ransom. You don't think those folks would be able to access that database? You don't think they wouldn't make that information available to their lower level street crews?
The Yazuka, various Greek, Albanian, Mexican organized crime groups are better managed than many businesses are.

Re: This Didn't Take Long...
You are confused. These folks do not peddle in petty crimes or random attacks on people. They have networks and distribution facilities and things like that much as a big corporation does. This database is small ball to them. The only thing they might use it for is offing some rival.Bryce wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 7:52 amIt's wasn't dummies that were hacking various government, business and college computer systems and holding them for ransom.
