Reddit users manipulating the stock market....and they're winning

Post by bmw » Thu Jan 28, 2021 4:58 am

Gamestop stock is up 1500 percent (yes, 15x) in just the past 15 days.

https://www.google.com/finance/quote/GME:NYSE

AMC? Up 581% in just the past 5 days

https://www.google.com/finance/quote/AMC:NYSE

Those are the 2 big ones. There are others. The short version of the story (no pun intended) is that a bunch of Reddit users have gotten together and are targeting stocks that are being heavily shorted by institutional investors. The end result is that the institutional investors are being short-squeezed for billions of dollars - in Gamestop's case, nearly $14 billion in just one day.

Except these folks will get zero when they go bankrupt, but if they got a few hundred bucks to burn, whatever.

Gamestop is already up another $72 a share (20 percent) in pre-market trading. This was a $4 stock not all that long ago.

Heh, I had no idea this got the attention of the people at Fox News. I just clicked on the stock page this morning (for the first time in a while) and saw all these stories about GameStop and AMC.

btw - now GME is + $132 and climbing. This is gonna get interesting.

Make that +$162....this is madness. And the market doesn't even open for a few hours yet.

btw - here is a list of some of the most shorted stocks. Figuring out which of these will be the next target is the million dollar question (literally).

They are gonna have to halt trading on it soon. It can’t be allowed to rise like this.

Layman's look - alot of these have name recognition, but are sort of past their prime. Kinda like the casino concert circuit... :blink

KOSS? The sh1t headphone maker?

Let's get Ronco and K-Tel up there, too!

Nothing about this is funny. Fuck those losers.

What's more pathetic: harassing an old man who is paying to do a radio show or supporting a grifter like Trump?

In the end no one wins, other than those that got out.

You're mad because some millionaire hedge funders are going to lose a couple thousand after they have been in involved in insider trading for years? :lol No, I think it's great. Screw the speculators.

No, I'm mad because these dickheads messing with the market negatively impacts a LOT of people. You support tyrant governors closing businesses for bullshit reasons, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that you don't have an issue with whats going on with these Bidets.

Those hedgefund companies now owe billions for attempting to profit on suffering retailers. Good.

Reddit users screwed over the hedge funds. That does not mean the hedge funds were bad for the retailers.
