I used to think Conan O'Brien was the most obnoxious late night host on television; and at the same time, I was a H*** fan of the Colbert Report when it was on Comedy Central. I don't get the same satisfaction from Colbert on CBS, but I do find myself laughing at Conan these days. He has great comedic instinct when interacting with people. I have no clue how he's doing in the ratings, though.

I'm here for a good, hearty debate, to agree and disagree respectfully, and commiserate on the current state of terrestrial radio.

James Corden who hosts the Late Late Show on CBS basically follows the same format as Fallon and perhaps pulls it off better.

I'm not a fan of either program.

He's a mediocre game show host but I did enjoy his late night program on CBS back in the day.

What was fun on O'Brien and Ferguson was that they'd have different stuff all the time. Quirky and weird, but entertaining. Seems like the rest recycle the skits and just have different guests. Their monologues have been the same unfunny crap for the last 4 years.

The skeleton and Ferguson were hilarious, and so much if that was just ad-libbed. Ferguson is unbelievably quick witted. That show never failed to make me laugh out loud.

The best line-up in late night television since Johnny Carson retired, in my opinion, was on NBC with Leno at 11:35 and Conan at 12:37. Letterman in his first few years (early-mid 90s) on CBS was pretty good too.

Here is an interesting graphic for late night ratings between 1991 and 2014. http://graphics.wsj.com/late-night-tv-s ... and-hosts/

Between 1992 and 2006, Letterman + Leno combined brought in over 10 million viewers in each and every year. Even in 2014, their combined ratings added up to 7.6 million viewers. So to see that combined number below 4.5 million viewers just 6 years later is kind of sad.

Bring back John Stewart. And his field correspondents.

Well, Colbert was one of his correspondents.

This may be the only time I ever agree with SG in here, but I do miss John Stewart. I know most conservatives hated him, but I thought he was very good at what he did. I especially liked some of his "debates" with Bill O'Reilly.

Jon Stewart would at least acknowledge valid points that O'Reilly would bring to the table. He would also have no problem calling out most democrats when they were acting nuts too. He was (is) left-biased, but probably closest to center than any of the "comedic" talk hosts.
